Prince George, B.C. – The celebration of Black History Month is about to get underway at the College of New Caledonia.
CNC and the Prince George African Heritage Society have a number of events planned to mark the 16th annual celebration of various aspects of the African culture in the month of February. Organizer, and CNC instructor George Kaweesi says “These events remind everyone that our community is made up of those from near and far and they share a common goal of trying to make it better. They also serve as a reminder that people of African heritage have made some significant contributions to this community, that we appreciate it and that we should all learn to work together to build a better society.”
Black History Month celebrations kick off tonight with the Main Event, at the CNC cafeteria and atrium. Inlcuded is a dinner starting at 6:30 followed by entertainment and a dance.
You can contact the college for a listing of events planned through the month.

Even though it may be an American reference, I believe it still stands.
After all these years I had thought race didn’t matter. Thanks CNC!
Jeez, I feel like a minority. What about White History Month?
I think everyone is into White history month.
Sunday, February 10th, 2013 is the 250th Anniverary of the Treaty of Paris. That is an important date in Canadian history. If the French had won the war, Canada would have been a predominately French speaking country with English being the minority language relegated to the Maritime provinces.
