Prince George, B.C. – The newest building on the CNC campus in Quesnel has a new name reflecting a sponsorship agreement between the college and a major forestry employer.

The new trades building is now officially known as the West Fraser Technical Centre. The agreement was signed by CNC President John Bowman (seated left in photo) and West Fraser Timber President Ted Seraphim.  CNC will receive $250,000  from the company over the next ten years for the building naming.   CNC President John Bowman says “the money will help fund equipment, student awards and other aspects of the educational agreement we signed with West Fraser. We are delighted that this great community company has financially supported its educational plans.”

Ray Ferris, Vice-President, Wood Products with West Fraser, says “at the new West Fraser Technical Centre our employees, and others, will be gaining high-quality skills and trades training at CNC matched to their work experience. This is one example of how West Fraser supports development opportunities for our employees to build their careers with us.”

The Regional Director of the Quesnel campus, Doug Larsen, says “the strong enrollments in the millwright courses by West Fraser and other local companies bodes well for future trades training in Quesnel.” He says the college will be having further discussions with West Fraser about additional trades training. And the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Hank Ketcham, says “it’s part of our culture at West Fraser to look for opportunities to develop and advance the next generation of leaders. In partnership with CNC we can provide excellent facilities and instruction for students to improve their skills and achieve their potential.”
