Families of all descriptions flocked to The Exploration Place to enjoy Family Day activities

Prince George, BC – Happy families, but exhausted staff at the museum, as Prince George residents flocked to The Exploration Place to take part in Family Day activities…

CEO Tracy Calogheros says more than 2,000 people had been through the building by 1pm this afternoon and Visitors Service Coordinator, Steven Carras, says that number had doubled by the time the event was over at 4pm.

"It was great – it was really, really busy," says Carras.  "But there was nothing but happy faces, and smiles, and kids having a good time all day today."

In cooperation with the BC Government and its first-ever Family Day, The Exploration Place hosted themed activity stations that included the ever-popular facepainting and storytelling booths, in addition to opening up the museum gallery to the public for free today.

Carras says there were a lot of familiar faces through the door, but there were also a lot of people who may not normally get the chance to come in and "it was great to see those new faces."

If there’s any way to get PG residents out, it’s to make something free.
