Prince George, BC – Two men from the Lower Mainland remain in custody in Quesnel in connection with a weekend traffic stop for speeding along Highway 97, that resulted in a large marihuana seizure with an estimated street value of $125-thousand dollars.

During a routine traffic stop for speeding just north of Quesnel on Sunday afternoon, a member of the RCMP’s Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services Unit detected a strong odour of pot coming from the vehicle.  Both the driver and passenger were arrested and a subsequent search turned up 12-kilograms of the drug in sealed packages.

A 37-year-old Burnaby man and a 41-year-old Vancouver man are facing charges of trafficking a controlled substances.  According to RCMP, the courts have set bail amounts for their release, but both men remain in custody at the Quesnel RCMP Detachment.  Their next court appearance is scheduled for March 12th.

RCMP say their investigation into this incident is continuing.

Speeding? Lol.

If they want to make more pot arrests, just walk through some of the back bowl neighbourhoods at night. When we are out walking our dog at night, it’s amazing how often whole blocks smell.

Should’nt speed I guess.

By the look of the guy on the right, looks like he got a little too close. lol

spell check,,,,,are you high…..lol,,,it marijuana

What is marihuana? Is it the same stuff as marijuana? Or is it the name for BC Bud? ;-)

It’s all in the buzz. This stuff give’s you a spanish accent after inhaling.

All that billions of dollars floating around, and they don’t want to tax it. Yet a Bitumen pipeline though this part of the world makes sense, what funny joke. Time for a more progressive federal government.

The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act spells it marihuana. I believe the H is the actual Canadian spelling.

Hey, wasn`t there 8 bags of dope seized. Not 7? lol

I believe the Oxford English Dictionary is the dictionary of record in English speaking Canada.

mariguana … yet another spelling …..

I’d like to to see them sell it for that much! Lotsa luck with that.

If you’re lame enough to speed with 50 lbs of illegal stuff of any kind, in your car, it’s probably better for everyone, including yourself, if you’re off the streets for a while.
