Nazko First Nation Gets Fed Funding For Rec Centre

Thursday, February 14, 2013 @ 12:01 PM

Prince George, BC – The Nazko First Nation, west of Quesnel, has received $35-thousand dollars from the Federal Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund towards a recreation centre.

Chief Shawn Patrick says the grant will be used to convert an existing steel building in the remote community into a much-needed gym for the community.  Patrick says, "The ability for participants to be active year-round is important for our growing Nation."

Cariboo-Prince George MP, Dick Harris, says, he’s proud to see the community benefit from the CIIF.  "This investment will help create jobs and growth, ad will support the prosperity of the community for years to come."

It sure is nice to see a useful project that doesn’t cost millions of dollars.

more money , more money. drive down town and find how many native services there are.

rattyboy@Do you know where Nazko is? It’s 118km outside of Quesnel. It’s not unreasonable for the community to have things like a gym close to home.

It’s a good deal for the Nazko too..weddings and dances etc. Re: downtown PG… What irks me is the incredible amount of provincial, school board and municipal spending on natives which is rightly a federal responsibility. Just tour George street and area..
