Monday afternoon in Edmonton, the Prince George Cougars fell 6-0 to the Edmonton Oil Kings. Edmonton scored twice in each period with Michael St. Croix leading the way with a goal and two assists.

Early in the first period the Oil Kings capitalized on a power play. Henrik Samuelsson beat Mac Engel with a one-timer from the left point for his 30th goal of the season. Michael St. Croix assisted on the goal to earn his 300th career point in the WHL.

Curtis Lazar made it 2-0 just past the half-way point of the period when he pounced on a rebound in the slot and placed a low shot past Mac Engel and in for his 31st. Edmonton outshot the Cougars 12-6 in the opening period.

Michael St. Croix and David Musil would team up for two more Edmonton goals in the back-half of the second, and Curtis Lazar and TJ Foster would add some third period goals to clinch the 6-0 win.

Early in the third the Cougars had a few good looks at the net, but Laurent Brossoit turned aside all 20 Cougars shots he faced to earn the shutout. Edmonton would outshoot the Cougars 40-20 in the game.

The Oil Kings finished the game one-for-four on the power play while the Cougars went zero-for-three.

Next up for Prince George, a pair of home games this weekend against the Portland Winterhawks. The Cougars head into the weekend three points back of eighth placed Everett for the eighth placed playoff spot.
