Prince George- Minister Pat Bell says the Wood Innovation Center to be built on the old site of the Prince George Hotel is in the capital budget and is not affected by anything contained in the budget presented in the legislature today.
Bell says the $25 million ear marked for the project was approved earlier and the money is available for the project.

Good! When is the expected start date?? Closer to election day you say?? I get it now!
$25 Million for the Wood Innovation Building. Six Stories.
$38 Million for the Police Station????
Hmmmmmm. Maybe we should have had Bell build the police station.
The police station is Taj Mahal
The Wood Innovation Centre is Buckingham Palace
I sincerely hope that they are not coming after PG Tax payers to pick up any more of the costs for this building, other than gifting the land.
I remember the goode olde days when the wood innovation centre was going to be a $75 million project. blog/view/22261/1/tender+for+wood+innovation+centre++likely+in+first+quarter+of+2012?id=140&st=3150
And why is the City trying to “sell” the PG hotel site according to the list gone over once more at Council last night?
Instead of these grandiose projects, spend 25 Million$ on social programs to clean the downtown area from prostitutes, drug dealers and gangs. Hopefully, the next government will cancel the project.
“spend 25 Million$ on social programs to clean the downtown area from prostitutes”
And you have the magic cure to get rid of prostitutes? The oldest profession in the world????
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
$25million to move them to Haldi Road?????
THAT is what I would call a grandiose idea!!
Dream along !!!!!
Gus? Are you suggesting that the two owners of the Haldi residence (ex school) are getting into the brothel business? LOL !! Probably more profitable than selling used cars. BC liberals and us tax payers going to get hit again! Queen Green photo op soon to follow.
Why, when we already have existing agencies in Canada, BC even, that concern themselves with “Wood Products Innovation”, do we need another facility like this in the first place? There is already a copious body of knowledge about innovative new ideas for wood products, most of which have never, and will never, result in any practical commercial application. Why do we have to keep re-inventing things that have already been invented, and have no real use? Seems like just another expensive ‘make work’ project to me.
