CNC Aviation Program Not Grounded…Yet

Prince George, B.C.-The future of the aviation program offered at the Vanderhoof campus of the College of New Caledonia, has not yet been decided.
College Director of Communications and Development, Randall Heidt says the program has extremely low numbers, with no students currently registered at the Vanderhoof campus, only one application for September 2013 program, and only one currently taking a business course related to aviation at the P.G. campus.
It is because of the low numbers that this program is one of the items that will be discussed as part of the CNC budget says Heidt. The college is facing a $1 million dollar shortfall for the next year. Heidt says given the low numbers for the aviation program it would be “irresponsible for the college not to look at the cost of delivering the aviation program”.
There are College Board meetings set for Friday February 22nd, and March 22nd. The two meetings will determine the course of action CNC will take to address it’s budget issues. In a release issued this afternoon, Heidt stresses that at this point, “no official decision on the future of the aviation program has been made.”

No interest. No program. Makes sense.
How about a million dollar shortfall does that make sence?
Cheers
How abou offering a course on animal husbandry instead? Sounds more interesting.
I looked at the courses offered with this program. I can understand why it’s not that popular. People trying to become commercial pilots don’t really want all those business courses.
Didnt they purchase a couple of flight simulators? Can they sell them if the progam closes?
I agree with Ruez.
I’ve been wanting to take a course like this for years. I had no idea CNC offered courses in aviation. Figured they didn’t offer courses like this in PG.
Actually courses like this are offered in other training establishments like Selkirk college so students can also learn the business side of aviation.
