Prince George, B.C.- The search is on for a suspect in an attempted robbery that took place in downtown Prince George Monday.
According to Police, they were called to the area of 4th and Dominion Street around 2 yesterday afternoon. A 30 year old male told police he had been approached by a man who reached out and grabbed his camera.
The victim refused to give up the camera and ran into a nearby business. The suspect followed the victim into the business and struck the victim several times. Witnesses interrupted the assault and the suspect fled the scene.
The victim used his camera to take a photo of the suspect before calling police ( the suspect is in photo at right, photo courtesy RCMP)
The suspect is described as:
- First Nations male
- 19 to 25 years old
- Brown eyes
- Short black hair
- Approximately (5’8")
- Approximately (160 lbs)
- Wearing a black ball cap, blue jeans, dark grey "ECKO" hooded sweatshirt, black runners and a beaded necklace
It appears the suspect and victim did not know one another. The investigation is continuing.

Must have been a cool camera.
the suspect was probably looking for a warm dry place to spend the next few weeks, winter isn’t over yet.
Defintely not a credit to his band. Maybe being a “steward of the land” doesn’t pay enough.
What ever happened with that guy that was hassling the women downtown?
just another thought – This picture was taken out on the street and he certainly doesnt appear to be running away. Was the picture taken FIRST and this fellow took offense and thats why he tried to grab the camera?
Doesnt make it right, just an observation
Good point interceptor. The photo doesn’t appear to have been taken inside after an altercation. I get aggressive when people take my picture without asking.
Maybe the camera has a good zoom lens. And many agressive people dont run away. He may be trying to make his presence known… who knows, at least this picis better than the grainy store security video pics we see.
Life in the getto. Trouble will find you.
pretty hard to run away with your pants crotch down around yours knees. If ever there was a generation that goes out of its’ way to look and act like mindless zombies, this is it.
So I guess for a few people here, potentially unauthorized photography is an acceptable excuse for violence.
able bodied young man, would make a good pipeliner for Enbridge.
This photographers story just doesn’t add up. I’d like to hear what the other fellows side of the story is before passing judgement.
quite right interceptor. If you’re going to take pictures of strangers downtown you better be a lot bigger and meaner than them. The ‘photographer’ was very lucky he didn’t get beat up and I’m sure there will be no charges laid.
I think people may be taking it a bit far to assume he was actively taking pictures of this guy. The image above looks like an extreme crop of something that the victim could have taken through a store window or by shooting out the door.
From a photographer’s point of view, having someone steal your gear could be crippling. With a decent camera costing in excess of $2000 and lenses running ~$1000 each, it would be pretty hard to enjoy the hobby again if it was stolen by a guy like this.
Hopefully the cops can catch this jerk. The last thing this town needs is for one of the few tourists, locals, or artists that actually goes downtown to get mugged for their camera gear.
I think he may be in the Croft by the looks of the picture.
But posted this
“pretty hard to run away with your pants crotch down around yours knees. If ever there was a generation that goes out of its’ way to look and act like mindless zombies, this is it.”
Did anyone else ROFL like I did?
There are a lot of people, tourists to Prince George, who have lost cameras and even their whole vehicles and all their stuff. It really isn’t right at all.
The more of these petty and larger thieves we can nail, the better.
LMAO! Why would someone want to take a photo of this guy prior to him attempting to rob then assault the photog? He sure doesn’t look like much of a subject I’d care to have in my collection.
RUEZ, unauthorized photography is grounds for arrest by some cops why not violence by civilians?
birdman, the guy was pulled off the victim while beating on him. Why do you think there will be no charges?
Take into account the “Gladue” decision and he might only just get a free lunch if convicted. Could happen.
He was picked up on Pine St earlier today, so ya he’s charged.
Making mountains out of molehills.
