Prince George, B.C. – Today is anti-bullying day across the nation, and several staff and officers at the Prince George RCMP detachment were "into Pink" to spread the word.
Pink Shirt day is now into it’s 6th year, having been started in Nova Scotia by some highschool students who wanted to show their support for a fellow student who was being bullied.
The anti-bullying message has become even stronger in B.C., in the wake of the death of Amanda Todd, a teen who took her own life because she was being bullied.
Prince George RCMP say they see the result of bullying as it impacts both the victim and the bully. The detachment encourages everyone in the community to support efforts to stop bullyng no matter what form it may take.
There are some helpful websites which offer opportunities to report bullying and help services for young people:

Awe yah, I see some familiar faces, lol. I grew up all over the country. I was always the new kid. Lots of violence at home. Bullied all my life. I live in fear. I also discrimination against for having a brain imbalance and my criminal record. It takes everything to stay away from the court, and still not enough.
The Pink Serge!! ;-)
and gus gets the LOL of the day …
Has anyone seen the youtube video of a girl up in college heights who bullies a special needs boy calling him a chug and three of them video the bullying and put it on youtube? 3 against one and the police and school board will not help because he is an Indian. She shoves, taunts, and threatens and belittles him until he puts his skateboard up for protection then she hits him and runs to her dad saying he bruised and almost broke her arm! Dad says he is going to beat the crap out of this boy! Dad and mom promote her bullying kids. She is presently bullying three kids at present. Does anyone know where these bullied kids can turn. John McInnis school permits bullying and will not listen to any of the kids or their parents. They just don’t want to hear it. The gang that impaled and raped that boy were from J-Mac. It is called “Fight with Bitch Face 001” Father is proud of her.
Western2 interesting video now we will wait and see if the pink serge was just a photo op.
Do we still need the RCMP validation of every touchy-feely issue? Isn’t this just a bit ironic given the organization is being sued for allegedly practicing institutionalized bullying and harassment?
I’m so old I can remember when harass was two words.
Serious bullying is an issue that needs to be taking seriously. But some people can’t seem to distinguish between basic schoolyard teasing and serious bullying. The little minor issues have been so blown out of proportion that kids nowadays think every little disagreement or spat with thier fellow student has to be treated as a federal crime. No wonder some kids seem to be compelled to commit suicide because they were never allowed the opportunity to let thier skin thicken a little bit. When I went to school everyone went through the bully or be bullied stage, everyone, it was just once of those schoolyard things. One year you may be the bully, they next year you may be the one picked on. When it was all said and done, people left school and went on with thier lives without any life altering issues to deal with. Maybe a few continued to bully in thier adult life, but probably very few if any. But nowadays, they don’t let kids deal with it and get over it, they blow every little incident way out of proportion. It’s like the school policies now that are too scared to let a kid know they lost a race in track. No ones a loser little johnny, everyones a winner, even you who came in dead last in your race….news flash, you lost the race little johnny, and will probably lose a lot more, get over it.
I think it is great that these folks have taken the time and effort to show their support. Children must be our first concern as they are our future!
So are you the father, western2?
I watched the video you partly described. It takes place downtown across from the Commonwealth building.
So what are the police going to charge them with? The cameraperson seems to be the main instigator of a bunch of kids who have nothing better to do in the middle of what seems to be a summer day.
“then she hits him and runs to her dad saying he bruised and almost broke her arm”
So where is that shown on the video?
But wrote: “Serious bullying is an issue that needs to be taking seriously. But some people can’t seem to distinguish between basic schoolyard teasing and serious bullying”
Bang on!!!!
I’ll never figure out why people seem to want to post their idiotic acts on Youtube for the world to see.
Western 2, take that video to the police, Social Services, School board and your local MLA, have no doubt you’ll get a good response.
