How Would You Like to Celebrate 100 Years?

Prince George, B.C.- The City of Prince George is putting out the call for your ideas on how you want to celebrate the City’s 100th Anniversary.
On Wednesday, from 3-6 p.m. at Exploration Place, there will be a “98th Anniversary Bash” but don’t let the free cake fool you, this event isn’t just a celebration. The get together is aimed at kicking off the “input process” for the 2015 celebration, or celebrations as the case may be. “That’s one of the things we are hoping to get input on” says Roya Compo of Tourism Prince George, “We are hoping people will let us know if they want one party, or more. We have had suggestions that we plan four celebrations, one for each season, and some have said we should do something every day of the year.”
There is no set budget for the centennial bash, and Compo says that will come after all the ideas have been gathered. “We will likely collect all the ideas through the summer, then have a plan put together in the fall. We will be seeking a variety of funding sources to cover the costs of the event.”

We desparately need some Councillors and Administratora who are not functionally illiterate.
I thought they went after the Winter Games for our big 100 celebration. We can’t afford another party so maybe we should just go back to what they did when the first train arrived. Have a parade – all homemade so no cost to the City.

heyyy partyyyyyyyyy Let’s take our hard working Mayor out on the town to let her hair loose. I’m sure she could find find some extra $$ in the coffers to buys us all a drink… Wouldn’t that be fun???? Our Mayor out on the town with us???
Close off a few downtown streets to traffic (the downtown will be revitalized by then won’t it?) and have one kick ass outdoor festival. Local bands, local artisans, local drunkards, local food, local whatever. Let’s just have some fun.
And you grumpy old codgers can stay at home and complain about the noise. :)
