Sex Trade Trafficking Likely in P.G.

Prince George, B.C. – Communities Against Sexual Exploitation of Youth (CASEY) says Prince George is not immune to sex trade trafficking. Diane Nakamura, Coordinator at CASEY says youth continue to be victims of sexual trafficking “It has happened in Prince George, and continues to happen, but the only reason we haven’t heard about it recently is the victims are too frightened to come forward, fearing repercussions.”
She says human trafficking goes hand in hand with organized crime, so because Prince George has gang activity it is highly likely that human trafficking is part of that gang activity.
Glendene Grant, the mother of Jessie Foster, who was trafficked out of Kamloops into Las Vegas, will be making a presentation on March 11th as part of Stop Sexual Exploitation of Youth Week. “ Jessie has disappeared and it is believed she has fallen victim to an international sex trade trafficking organization” says Nakamura. Grant will be speaking at the YAP Friends from 11-noon on Monday, and again at the Keith Gordon Room at the Library from 7-8 p.m.
“Prince George is the hub of the north” says Nakamura, “ I spend a lot of time in the downtown and I see a lot of new young faces, and then these young girls just disappear. I don’t know if they have returned to their home communities or if they have been recruited by gangs, but I know gangs know how to prey on the most vulnerable.”
Over the past year, CASEY has provided 37 presentations about sexual exploitation of youth to mostly school aged children. “We’ve been lucky to have been able to present to a number of schools outside Prince George” says Nakamura, “We estimate we’ve been able to reach over 500 youth last year.”
Another event set for the week will take place on Saturday, the 16th. Merlyn Horton the executive Director of the Safe Online Outreach Society will be providing a youth internet safety workshop from 2-3:30 in the Keith Gordon Room at the Prince George Public Library.

I know, it’s nothing new.
It is sickening!!
Ask those living in the Millar / VLA areas, they can tell you all about the sex trade. Thank you for that city council as well.
Goes on right downtown. There is a lot of “goofs” here. Goof, means people who like to have sex with under age girls.
I see it all the time, of course it’s sick. If I report it, I will get my other arm broken for interfering in the business of the mafia.
All courtesy of the same people who bring you the “harmless” grow ops. I’m guessing that legalizing pot will eliminate this as well . . .
What are you doing about this problem NMG? I do see a lot of folks on this website complaining but doing absolutely nothing. If you want to confront them, then you do it. Since you seem to have answers. Can you tell us the public what to do?
Taking shots at me about weed isn’t going to solve this issue. If you got an answer than lets have it.
“Can you tell us the public what to do?”
ummm – quit supporting them by buying and smoking their product might be a start ;)
Gangs don’t grow the weed I buy, most people don’t get their weed from gangs, it’s a misconception. I only get it from independent growers. I wouldn’t buy a thing from a gangster. Interceptor must be police. Actually police know very well most people get their weed from independent growers. I could however grow myself again if you rather me do that. However you don’t want me to partake in it at all. You rather me not use it at all. I would gather you would have problem with buying tobacco or alcohol though, because it’s legal for sale. Makes no sense what so ever. Arguing with you every day about the same damn thing over and over again does get trying. Someone must be bank rolling you.
sorry, no one is bank rolling me – I just cannot ever get over the pompousness of dope smokers. Here is an example:
“I would gather you would have problem with buying tobacco or alcohol though, because it’s legal for sale. Makes no sense what so ever.”
How does that NOT make sense? Its ILLEGAL? Get it? The day it is legalized you can do it all you want. Its your body. Until then you are just a common criminal who thinks they are above the law.
It’s people like you that keep it illegal and for what reasons? Don’t give me dumb reasons that I can google the answers.
neo con website. I should tell my web browser to not come here and that is what I am going to do
it is highly likely that human trafficking is part of that gang activity.
========================================
But it appears we are not sure we are just guessing. I guess no one noticed that part of the sentence but we gop into a lather and make comments about the sex trade. Come on wake up.
Cheers
This isn’t a neocon website. It’s just news! The commenters are all over the map politically. I say legalize pot, but that doesn’t mean I like it,
Want to promote its use, or hope that my loved ones and friends start smoking it. This article is about sex trafficking, not pot! Let us focus on these girls and women that are being taken advantage of, used, abused, and support those people and groups who are doing something to tackle the problem and help those caught in this ugly, disgusting practice!!
“Can you tell us the public what to do”
For starters, how about supporting the RCMP in their efforts to combat organized criminal activity, including large scale grow ops?
Well keeping Cannabis outlawed isn’t helping anyone. Christ can’t you see that. Top officials been saying it for years. Form A.G, mayors, police officials and even Senator Larry Campbell. Come on , man the war on drugs doesn’t work. Only a fool wants to keep the status quo, use your brain.

Did you ever notice that talking to a recovered substance abuser about substance abuse is useless? The brain is in auto mode.
Well I had or have no idea who these people are. If I knew I would be more compassionate. I for one have had a rough life, but I didn’t have to stick a rig in my arm or huff on a crack pipe. Both my sister and I have spoken about this issue.
I’m sorry, but a good many drug addicts have made lots of problems for me in the past. Christ we got the shit kicked out of us till we left the house. I moved out here to get away from the BS. Look I am am sorry to offend okay. I should be more mindful.
Nao I agree and the one idea I have is stop having children if you can’t raise them properly. It’s a drain on society.
Like I say my family was very abusive and had a lot of problems, but we didn’t run with bad people and sure as hell didn’t join a gang. My sisters have more class then that. I don’t feel sorry for any of these people, why should I. How many people did they rip off or hurt why they ran to their gangster boyfriends for help.
It sounds heartless, but geez what do you want me to say. Get off the streets and go to school. This isn’t the 80’s anymore. These kids have countless social workers and counsellors to help them through things. A hell of a lot more than what we had. I just don’t get it. If I had half the help these kids have today I would of never came up to this fish bowl.
I think interceptor would jump off a cliff if the government to him too!
Told him too!
So you pick which laws apply to you and which ones dont too Carpenter? Do you guys teach your kids this too? “Yes son be a good citizen, but dont worry about these laws here, they dont apply to you. Those are just for other people”
Have you ever jay-walked my friend? Shame on you……
I treat people the way I want to be treated. I don’t steal. I’m not abusive to my wife. I have morals, but stupid marijuana laws I do not agree with.
I do not have kids yet! But I am a very driven individual. Pot does not make you stupid or lazy. I work 10-12 hrs a day 6 day week.
Here, here Carpenter.
