Troy Bourke could not have written a more perfect script for his 200th career game in the WHL. The 18-year-old led the Cougars with two goals, and goaltender Mac Engel did the rest stopping all 21 shots he faced in a 3-0 victory for the Cougars against the Tri-City Americans. Dallas Ehrhardt and Zach Pochiro each chipped in with two points in the win.

After a rather uneventful first 19 minutes the Cougars caught a break late in the first when Dan Gibb was able to sneak his point shot through a crowd and on goal. Troy Bourke pounced on the rebound and fired his 12th of the season past Troy Trombley to put his team ahead 1-0.

Shortly after the mid-way point of the second, Bourke would strike again. This time it was off a Dallas Ehrhardt rebound, and Bourke did a nice job of skating in close on Trombley and beating him with a backhand deke.

Colin Jacobs scored the game’s final goal on a power play point shot at 17:20 of the second period. For Jacobs it was his team leading 23rd goal, which is also a new season high for him.

The Cougars controlled the game throughout the third period limiting the Tri-City Americans to just two shots in the final frame. Mac Engel wasn’t tested with many difficult chances, but he certainly stood tall when needed. For Engel it was his second shutout of the season and his 50th career victory.

Prince George outshot Tri-City 28-21 and finished one-for-four on the power play. Tri-City only had one power play chances which proved to be unsuccessful.

The Cougars (19-38-2-6) will now head onto the road for six straight games, and are currently six points back of eighth place in the West with seven games remaining in their regular season. Friday the Cougars return to action in a ‘must-win’ game against the Seattle Thunderbirds.

i criticized last nites game, but will praise tonites effort…the bigggest improvement was in goal.

Thompson, you are a GM god, that is one in a row. Quick someone resign him.

Way to go boys! Much better result.

Thompson couldn’t manage a rabbit breeding farm. He’d screw that up too.
