This bio might fit …..

Thanks Gus for the great link. An MA in political Science. Sounds like she will polatic us to the wall. Will she be able to do a Core Review.

Wouldn’t a degree in Business Management be more to our needs? Will she be able to kick ass the Moyor? Sounds like anopther winner.
Cheers

I do not know if that is her. But very likely. She has had a very rapid career rise if it is her, or she got her degrees later in life.

She might be just the person to re-arrange City Hall Admin. …… and then maybe move on if whe fits the pattern of that kind of individual.

So here we go already ….. welcome to PG and the rumour mill of a small town where we think we run it ….. LOL

BTW, she is not heading up a business …. she is heading up a government operation …

Maybe a potential cat fight?

212.00 PER YEAR… WHAT A BARGAIN….

So, a picture elsewhere confirmed it is her. Of course, there is that bit of a difference between a posed picture and a news conference picture ….. ;-)

I love her previous titles. Associate Deputy Minister and Assistant Deputy Minister. Gotta love the government and their sense of “entitlement”…. :)

So, with those coming in the forefront for thsi job application, as opposed to those highlighted with what appears to be her present position, she is sounding a bit more closely aligned with Tim McEwen’s career path.

Associate and assistant, the first three letters say it all me think!!

Everone needs a title ……. axman, eh??!! ….. hmmm

“and the City has negotiated a severance package.”

Ah, the golden parachute. Gotta have that!

Hopefully they didn’t use the Tim McEwan template, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.

Oh come on, she does not start her job till May 1. Give her a 6 month honeymoon. I gave Bates one year to see how he would work out.

I think this one may just be the right ticket. My hunch is she will speak her mind once she settles in. She is no longer assistant …. she’s it!!

I would not be surprised if she did better than Tim. Depends very much on what she is being asked to do. The more risk she perceives to the desired length of her tenure, the higher it will be.

Kinda agree gus. Looks like someone who sees this as a stepping stone to bigger and better things and not a cushy long term position. If this is the case she will not be afraid to make a few waves(tsunami would be better)at Patricia Blvd.

or could be just wishful thinking.

Isn’t the city manager the mayor? Just get rid of Green and only have the city manager. Green can go back and sell christmas ornaments.
Perfect.

“I love her previous titles. Associate Deputy Minister and Assistant Deputy Minister. Gotta love the government and their sense of “entitlement””

Those titles pretty much mean that she worked 60 hours a week, was on call 24/7/365, that she worked a great deal behind the scenes on major initiatives and didn’t get credit for anything and that she got paid 40% of what she would have been paid in the private sector to do similar work.

Based on her resume alone, I’d say that she could bring some needed experience and expertise to city hall. Now that said, the world is also full of consultants who have great ideas and impressive resumes, but who never accomplish a thing in the real world.

Given her background and experience, it does seem like a interesting decision on her part to take this position. It could very well be a stepping stone for her into something larger, or perhaps she is just looking for a change. It’s quite conceivable that her work here will be less demanding that her previous positions.

Hopefully it turns out well for PG as it’s painfully obvious that something needs to improve at City Hall!

From her profile on linkedin, this is the part that interests me. If she did that well, then we have exactly the perosn we needed:

“assist public sector and corporate clients to drive improvements in infrastructure investments, strategic organizational alignment, operating policy and PROCESS RE-ENGINEERING.”
———————————–

NMG, you hit the nail on the head with workloads she would have had with little thanks to who actually did the work.

The frequency of change concerns me a bit. But if she is a driven person, then that would be a characteristic.

At first my jaw fell on the floor when I saw the wage this position entitles…. I still had a bruise there from a while ago when I read how much Derek Bates made.

Inb comparison, most General Practitioners in Canada make about $150K/year.

But all is topsy-turvy in this world. Just look at how much professional athletes get paid compared to their actual value to this planet.

That said, I hope she does a good job. God knows there needs to be some intelligent focus at City of PG.

Have to have a process before it can be re-engineered/streamlined, blindfolded game of pin the tail on the taxpayer not a good model but the one we had been using.

Canfor ex CEO David Emerson had a ton of jobs on his cv, good reputation and record in positions he has held.

General Practitioners are technicians, not managers.

A reorganization specialist that has a proven record for a specific industry/business can work almost anywhere, be done in 3 to 4 years, and make $350 to $500+ thousand easily + perks – house, vehicle, retirement fund, etc.

“blindfolded game of pin the tail on the taxpayer not a good model”

Hey, its called a living document …;-)

Reminds me of toilet paper …..

Women certainly can’t whine and complain in this town about equal opportunity and pay. Virtually every high level, high wage job since her hindness has taken over has gone to a woman. You would almost think thier is a conspiracy to change the “old boys club” to “old girls club”.

At that wage and vehicle allowance she can buy 5 houses in “the hood”, rent four out and still come out on top. Nice gig. Speaks volumes for networking. Now get out there, you.

“General Practitioners are technicians, not managers.”

True enough, but at least they have a bed-side manner when they bring bad news. ;-)

What happened to the election ploy to cut all departments by 10%… wouldn’t this position have been the easiest place to start? Its all politics will Green and no doubt this is part of the program for her career too.

just a minor Point, why do you need a vehicle Allowance , 212000 a Year should be plenty to pay for your own Car! What a rich City PG is.

Strange that Kathleen Soltis, who has a wealth of experience and is very highly regarded here, was passed by for the job.

Rather interesting that she was the associate Deputy Minister of so many Government departments.

So lets see, Hmmmmmmmm. When Derek Bates left he got a job with the Liberal Government as Associate Deputy Minister, of M.I.O. Major Investments Office.

Beth James who used to be an Associate deputy Minister, replaces Bates, as the Manager of the City of Prince George.

Seems both have close connections to the Liberal Government. Is the fine hand of the Liberals involved in finding us a City Manager???

Seems like we lost a manager to an associate minister, and gained a manager from an associate minister??

Have we made any headway???

Hmmmmmmm.

Do we ever have some experts on this site. It is Dstrange that the City is not aware of all this good talent when its all right infront of them. Must be someone that has a better background then just an MA in Political Science. To me it looks lik,me anothe poloitical hack. I woild think that the expertise would be in Civil engineering.

It is evident that much of the work done by the City is substandard. People like Gall what dose he really know about infrastructure maintainance when you look around at how things are done just a simple procedure like filling pot holes. The crews are just not properley trained to do the job or provided the proper equipment.

Tell us Gus your the expert.
Cheers

Her resume does not point out any experience in municipal government or labour relations.
==========================================
That about says it all.
Cheers

“Strange that Kathleen Soltis, who has a wealth of experience and is very highly regarded here, was passed by for the job.”

Does anyone know whether she applied for the job? Some people actually know their limits and do not want to get promoted to their level of incompetence.

From the City’s point of view, I would hope they were looking for fresh blood.

If they wanted someone to “clean house”, it has to be an outsider.

We really do not know what the City was looking for.

——————————-
“$6 thousand dollar a year vehicle allowance” … as long as she drives a Leaf.

“When Derek Bates left he got a job with the Liberal Government as Associate Deputy Minister, of M.I.O. Major Investments Office”

I think you mean Tim McEwan
http://dir.gov.bc.ca/gtds.cgi?esearch=&updateRequest=&view=detailed&sortBy=name&for=people&attribute=display+name&matchMethod=is&searchString=Tim+McEwan&objectId=130753

Derek Bates is not on the BC Gov directory.

So much for that theory …. LOL

With all that time in Victoria she must know Marshall Smith very well. Not sure if that is good or bad for PG ! Smith and Green are very tight .

Your right Gus. I checked out McEwan rather than Derek Bates.

Now I have to track Bates.

Is Sherry forcing her to live downtown? You know , lead by example!

heyyy Think things are bad now??? WAIT till she;s given the keys to the City. They just got her in so that Ms green will have someone to redirect everyone to..

As for the pay…. heyyy a girl’s gotta color her hair. Look at those roots..

You may have to go to your people network to track him, Palopu.

No blonde jokes. Ya hear?

Wasn’t she in the movie “Me myself and Irene”?

Any bets on how close to the 25 grand her moving costs are? Why don’t they just say $25,000 to move?

I’m not seeing any thing in her resume that qualifies her to manage a city. Oh well, it’s not as though this city can get any worse.

I give her a year. :)

Oh it can get worse axman…..and it’s called PAC.

Well I happen to be a mover. You can do a full service move from Vancouver to PG
for Approx $12,000.00 . The city is wasteing a lot of money as usuall. The taxpayers in PG are really getting pushed around. Also when one term Sherry promised
cutbacks if she got elected. She pretty much fibbed a bit. I know of several cases
of unfair double standards with our city council. Hard to believe.

The moving allowance is to a maximum of $25000.00 so if she can get the job done for $12000.00 then that’s all the City will pay.

The onus is on her to get the best possible rate from a reputable mover.

I just hope she’s not a “yes” (wo)man.
