Thursday, March 21, 2013 @ 3:51 AM
Prince George, BC – With Spring Break in full swing, there are two events that can not only keep you busy, but let you check out a couple of the facilities and type of action   that will be part of the Canada Winter Games in 2015.

Tabor Mountain is welcoming  Olympic Gold Medallist Ashleigh McIvor in a special event today. McIvor won the gold medal for women’s ski-cross in the 2010 Olympics, and will be making a test run ( or two) down the new ski cross course that has been built for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

McIvor will be joining Tourism Prince George on the slopes and Tabor Mountain is offering a special deal to all skiers and snowboarders.   A full day lift ticket will be priced at $20 dollars and  Tourism P.G. Staff will be there with some goodies   to giveaway as it celebrates #158 on it’s #takeonPG campaign.

If being outdoors is not to your liking, there is the Junior West Regional Wheelchair Basketball Championships, featuring local two-time Canada Games able-bodied wheelchair basketball player, and 2010 Wheelchair Basketball Canada Junior athlete of the year, Avril Harris.
The tournament will take place at Duchess Park Senior Secondary School  starting Saturday morning at 10:00.

The 3-on-3 tournament features the top junior aged athletes (born on January 1, 1991 or later) from B.C. Alberta  and Saskatchewan, who are age-eligible to participate in the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George.    This event is free.
