Alberta Man Facing Kitimat Assault Charge

Kitimat, B.C. – An Alberta man is facing a charge in connection with the brutal assault of an innkeeper in Kitimat last weekend.
At about 5:30 last Sunday morning Kitimat RCMP and Fire Department/EMS responded to a report of a female laying unconscious outside a hotel in Kitimat. Police say the victim is the owner/manager of the hotel. Witnesses told police the suspect had fled the scene heading toward a wooded area. Police was able to track his footprints in the snow and made an arrest.
31-year-old Daniel Charles Rinquinha, formerly of Kitimat and now living in Alberta, remains in custody awaiting a court appearance on a charge of aggravated assault.
Police say the 50-year-old victim remains in hospital for ttreatment of severe head trauma and broken facial bones.
Kitimat RCMP were aided by Terrace officers in the investigation.
