Prince George, BC – The YMCA has wrapped up its Strong Kids campaign raising $16,000.

That is the most money raised in the three years the campaign has been operating.   YMCA CEO Mark Miller says the goal this year was to raise funds for Camp Kanannaq and the Aurora Leadership program.  An average 25% of campers require financial assistance to participate.

Throughout the community, fund raising events included such efforts of “Our Nachos for Strong Kids” which saw the Shooters Group sell 687 orders of nachos.

There was a Zumba Fitness-athon, penny collecting and a bird feeder silent auction.

The First Annual Strong Kids Challenge raised more than $6,000  and local business person Selen Alpay was crowned the Champion as he collected 1,210 points by taking part in as many YMCA fitness and volunteer activities as possible.
