The south bound Volvo was driven by a 70 year old man from Salmon Arm, he also died at the scene. His 66 year old wife was seriously injured and was flown to Kelowna hospital by air ambulance where she remains in critical condition.

So sad to hear this story. From the few details above (and in other media), it kind of makes me mad that it is possible the driver who survived may have caused this accident and yet he gets to live.

Yes it very sad. Take a Look and watch how many are riding the Center Line or drifting back and for over the Line!

bornandbred, maybe the driver of the pickup had a medical issue or maybe there was a mechanical failure or maybe or maybe or maybe……………………….

It’s a very sad thing, im very sorry for the families. As for bornandbred’s comment, there are dozens of reasons the driver could have crossed the centre line. An accident is an accident (look up the definition)

Dear Dragonmaster and cherry1970cherry, please read carefully before commenting. I mentioned the few details I was going on and said it was “possible” that the driver caused the accident. I am allowed to be mad that innocent people died POSSIBLY due to someone else’s fault.

such a sad storey on such a nice weekend. condolences to all involved.

As to all the above comments, it could of been any of the above mentioned causes but most often it is human error. most times a vehicle crosses the center line it is due to human error such as speeding, distractions, inexperience, or just not paying attention. road conditions would be included in the above mentioned. there are times when medical and mechanical reason cause such accidents but not so many.
Bottom line, it is still a tragedy and will not bring any of them back plus this young man will have to live the rest of his life with this on his mind, not a good thing.

hope the rest of the weekend is good.

Of course it is too early to say until the investigation is complete, but if the road conditions were not a factor, chances are that the pick-up driver was distracted somehow causing him to cross the centerline.

On my 10 minute commute to work I see an average of 5 people talking on a phone or stopped at a light texting. Distraction is probably the #1 cause of MVA today. The current level of enforcement of the discration laws are not enough to deter this dangerous behaveour.

@BornandBred It makes me mad that you would make a comment like that. The driver that survived is one of my good friends who I’ve known all my life and is a great guy. What I’ve heard is he fell asleep.

Tragic and sad to say the least , but b1990 , please understand that I am NOT trying to trash your friend , This is something that will be terrible to live with the rest of his life. But falling asleep or being tired is leagally impaired . Most people do not realize not just drugs or alcohol cause impairment . lack of sleep or stress and emotions are impaiment too. Sorry this happened and hopefully your friend can get the help he may need to get through this. Survivors guilt can be a terrible thing .
