Antique Show Offers Unique Opportunity For These Visitors
Jerzy Gus and his grandpa, Gary Munro, check out hockey cards at the Antique Fair
Prince George, BC – While it was special to watch 12-year-old Jerzy Gus and his grandpa peruse the antique glass bottles and old hockey cards at the Antique and Collectibles Fair yesterday, what made their bonding time even more unique was the fact that both are visiting Prince George…from different communities.
Jerzy and his family are here for the weekend from Port Alberni. The young winger is playing centre this weekend in a Pee Wee hockey tournament, while his 10-year-old sister is competing at the 2013 Artistic Gymnastics BC Championships on at the Northern Sports Centre.
Grandpa, Gary Munro, drove from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, to watch his grandchildren compete in the local events. It’s the first visit to Prince George for both. Jerzy lost his first game and was hoping for a better result in game two. He was finding a lot of interesting things at yesterday’s fair at the Roll-A-Dome. His grandpa was enjoying every minute of the visit and the weather wasn’t putting a damper on the experience.
In fact, yesterday’s rain-and-sometimes-sleet appeared to be a boon to attendance. The parking lot outside the Roll-A-Dome was full, with cars lined up down the access road to the Playhouse.
It’s the second such fair for local vendor, Jack Ross (left), who was manning a table with Tom Heidsma.
"It’s been an exceptional, exceptional turn-out," said Ross, who had a number of eye-catching items on display, including an antique wheelchair and firearm from the 1850s.
The event runs from 10am until 4pm today, with proceeds from admission going to the Prince George Hospice House Society.

The Antique Show was great. Lots of people with interesting stuff, but they should try to stick to Antiques. Great fund raiser.
I went a couple years ago and found most of the stuff to be way overpriced.
Ummm….Johnny right wing, I thought you was of the “whatever the market will bare” way of thinkin’…….
People can charge whatever they want, and I didn’t say there was anything wrong with that, but thanks for jumping to conclusions.
You can ask any amount for anything you want. But does it sell?
(Thanks to Pawn Stars ;) for that brilliant piece of knowledge)
