Monday, April 22, 2013 @ 3:57 AM
Prince George, B.C.- The Mayor’s Task Force on Crime Reduction has developed it’s work plan for 2013, and promises to have a report back to Prince George City Council by the end of October.

In a report to be presented to City Council on Monday night, Mayor Green requests Council approve the expenditure of $10,000 of the $200 thousand set aside for this task force, to cover expenses for this year. She outlines the expenses will cover such things as “the cost of travel for Surrey representatives invited to Prince George to overview their successful crime reduction strategy, community outreach and consultation, as well as the production and promotion of the completed strategy.”

The Mayor’s Crime reduction strategy is based on the Surrey model ( see previous story) .

The Work plan for the year ahead has been broken down into three phases:
Setting the Stage:   this is the educational stage where committee members will learn the facts on crime in Prince George, visit with Surrey representatives, and examine some of the promising actions being undertaken in other municipalities.

Gap Analysis: in this stage, the committee will identify the strengths and opportunities the weaknesses that need to be addressed, preliminary recommendations

Final Recommendations: this stage will present the final recommendations, set the frame work for monitoring and reporting and a communication plan

There are eleven members of this committee which Mayor Green will chair. Councillors Garth Frizzell, Brian Skakun, and Dave Wilbur are also on the committee as are RCMP Superintendent Eric Stubbs, School District 57 Superintendent Brian Pepper and  a representative from B.C. Housing.

are there really no Criminologists in PG? i would think people from PG may have a better idea about what we could do in our own town. just a thought

She doesn’t want to hear what we have to say.

Holy crap people.
$200,000.00 set aside for this task force. we will spend 10,000.00 to visit back and forth with a city that has a similar plan and finally get a report back to tax payer by October??? By October the best crime time will be almost over(summer) and we will be no further ahead. want to do a study on crime, spend a weekend in the hood. no wonder the criminals are always a step ahead of the law.
I say we deal with our local crime issues and let surrey deal with theirs. It is two different climates and climate does effect the criminal groups on the streets.

just thoughts of a guy who’s hadenuf
have a great day

I’m with you hadenuf
It ain’t rocket science. The problem is there are no deterrents for the crooks . The cops know it , the lawyers know it and the crooks really know it .
Until we get some actual punishment and bring back the death penalty nothing will change .
I like that idea of sending the shitrats to a Mexican jail to save us a little money .
Crime study , what a joke

I’ll bet they won’t step foot into a single one of these “problem areas” and probably never have, nor ever will. Don’t get your kid boots dirty miss green, it would be bad for your image.

It’s left up to people like me to take on the whole damn organized crime deal all by myself. These criminals just figure they know the system and think Crown is stupid, well they aren’t.

Maybe council should look at them self’s… The Green Blob is the most corrupt of them all …unless she likes you then we will change all the rules for you… who cares what the voters think

One murder in PG, 11 in Surrey, yep they are experts. Wonder if they are the same core review experts?
How come everytime I hear the word expert my wallet gets lighter.

We should out source the jails to China and Russia, and have a prisoner exchange with them and spend the $200000 on air travel, that would make them think twice

Green makes me sick to my stomach actually. She grew up here and has done nothing herself to rid the BS.
