Workers Memorial Ceremony Held Today

Prince George, B.C. – The National Day of Mourning is being marked in Prince George today, with a ceremony at noon at the Workers Memorial at Queensway Avenue and Patricia Boulevard, below Connaught Hill Park.
The National Day of Mourning is observed across Canada on April 28th each year to commemorate workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness due to workplace-related hazards and incidents. The observance was started in Canada in 1984 and has now spread to more than 80 countries.
The executive of the Prince George and District Labour Council will be joined by various speakers, politicians and workers relating their stories at today’s memorial ceremony.
