NCLGA Starts in Quesnel

Quesnel, B.C.- The North Central Local Government Association gathers in Quesnel today for the first in a three day convention .
More than 250 delegates are expected to attend, representing governments from 100 Mile House to the Yukon border.
It has been eleven years since Quesnel last hosted the NCGLA.
In addition to hearing from a variety of speakers, the delegates will be asked to endorse a number of resolutions.
The 29resolutions to be debated resolutions cover a variety of issues, from maintenance of Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert to calling on the Provincial government to examine the resource management programs in Norway which have produced wealth. Some of the other resolutions include a call for the development of a reliable air ambulance service, an extra tax on animal feed to raise funds for animal protection and welfare, to a request the Province change “Heritage Week” to later in the year when heritage attractions are open to the public .
Resolutions that are endorsed will be forwarded to the appropriate Ministries and to the Union of B.C. Municipalities for consideration at the UBCM annual convention in September.
