Prince George, B.C. – As the first day of advance polls rolls on, former NDP leader Carole James paid a visit to the Prince George campaign headquarters of candidates Bobby Deepak and Sherry Ogasawara.
She says she is here to help the NDP candidates for Prince George- Mackenzie and Prince George-Valemount campaign “I will be on the phones, I will be out canvassing” says James. That’s not to say she thinks the two are in need of extra help “You can read it as I’m joining the excitement, that I know it’s going to be a close race, that I believe we are going to win these ridings and I’m here to help out and do my part.”
James says advance polls are critical “First off it gives people a chance to be part of the excitement”. She says the other factor is that it clears the way for volunteers to do a big push on election day “The more people who are out on advance poll, the more volunteers you have in your office on election day. So those people who went out and voted on advance polls, will be there to help the rest of the people who haven’t gotten out to vote. It (advance polls) creates excitement, it builds the excitement.”
James is not surprised to see the race tighten up “No question, there’s been a tightening up of the polls, people forget that we’ve said that all along. I think it came as a surprise to some folks, but we’ve said all along that we knew that this was going to be a tough race.”

No article on CBC.ca yet about that gentleman with communist leanings running in Richmond Central. No big deal, eh? Sun News Network. A little knowlege concerning candidates is a dangerous thing, I guess.
communist leanings?
That is just another ideology like Liberal or conservative. Let’s face a little reality, none of the parties actually follow their original ideology, it is all just to differentiate each other as opponents. Beyond that, the liberals have become conservative, the conservatives have become socialist liberals, and the NDP are no longer associated with the socialist (communist) ideology. Nobody really knows who they are.
Besides, even “if” a communist got into office, and even further they somehow got a majority, they would not be able to make the province or the country communist.
Canada is a parliamentarian democracy.
Unbelievable. Did you watch the news item, Loki?
I looked up the word “blithe”. Seems to fit. Carry on.
I think we have a PM in Ottawa that has done more for Communist China than a candidate from Richmond ever could!
“(communist leanings) That is just another ideology like Liberal or conservative.”
Wow! Have you lived under communism?
“…and the NDP are no longer associated with the socialist (communist) ideology. Nobody really knows who they are…”
The leopard and the spots….
Wow whata shocker! An ex- chinese national who was once a communist party member. Since that is the only political party allowed in China, what choice did they have? Harbinger is your middle name McCarthy?
Just sayin’. Interpret it at your leasure.
I am sure those living in Richmond have a better grasp of Chinese and political situation than me and you have.
How many of you guys have voted so far in PG and is there any local polls on the chances of Deepak and Ogasawara? Anyone reading this is watching the debate?
Most people have already made up their mind for how they are going to vote. The only thing now is how can the parties avoid making mistakes that will cause a change in a voters’ mind, that is why there is such an emphasis on the advance polls
I think it’s more like who ever gets their vote out will win. Gotta think that the Deepak camp is hoping that the Indo-Canadian PG voters who support him will be out enmasse. Not saying that as a racist remark. They are a well connected people. My concern is voter apathy with the regular Liberal some-time voter. They don’t have a galvanizer that will bring out the vote.
Unless you are talking about whites, anything other than that can be construed as “racist”. IMO.
Pre-apologize. Proof that you are a bonifide politically correct Canadian. Carry on.
