Prince George, BC – A new Technical Director will be joining Prince George Youth Soccer a little later this season…
Stephen Hood is currently the Director of North Shore Soccer Development in North Vancouver, but will be moving with his family to join PGYSA in his new position as of July 1st. Hood fills a vacancy left by the resignation of Joel MacDonald last fall, two years into a three year position.
"Steve comes to us with a good background – with a number of experiences under his belt," says PGYSA Executive Director, Len McNamara. "He was looking at getting out of the big city of Vancouver and coming to a city such as ours that’s a little more intimate and trying to put his stamp on things, so we’re excited and happy, and looking forward to his arrival."
Hood will oversee all the curriculum for all indoor and outdoor youth soccer programs. McNamara adds, "A big part of his job is also teaching both players and coaches – one of the big areas that we want to develop is our volunteer coaches and giving them the resources to be better coaches on the fields."
Prince George Youth Soccer is the largest sports organization in the city. More than 2500 kids are registered in this spring’s outdoor program, another 700 participate in fall and winter indoor programs.
