Terrace, BC – It was all about policing for students participating in the Northwest Heritage Fair in Terrace…
As part of this year’s theme of ‘100 Years of Policing in Terrace’, the fair featured a display showcasing the force’s history in the region and country, including two period uniforms: a BC Provincial Police uniform on loan from the Prince Rupert Fire Museum and a North West Mountain Police Norfolk tunic on loan from the Regina RCMP Historical Collection.
The display was put together by Rick and Chantal Meijer. Veteran RCMP officers Rick Meijer, Gerry Brown, and Marjan Kriegl were on-hand for the fair.
As part of the Heritage Fair bus tour, students visited the original RCMP detachment in Terrace and were then given a tour of the current detachment, including the jail cells, policing equipment and vehicles.
Constable Angela Rabut says climbing into the back of the Crime Reduction Unit van was a bit hit with the youth.
