Charges are pending against two members of Prince George Fire Rescue
Prince George, BC – Further to the story 250News broke over the weekend, comes confirmation two people have been arrested in connection with what RCMP believe was a stolen property ring operating in Prince George, allegedly involving at least two Prince George firefighters.
A 37 year old man was arrested on May 1st, while a 31 year old man was arrested on May 2nd. Both men were employees of Prince George Fire Rescue.
According to a release from the City of Prince George issued yesterday, one of the firemen has been suspended without pay pending the investigation. It is known that other people are being investigated in connection with this matter. The two men arrested are set to appear in court in July.
The stolen property that has been recovered is said to be worth over $200,000. It included two jet boats, a mini excavator, a skid machine, one quad, and 2 snowmobiles along with trailers and other goods. The jet boat located on Bench Drive in the city had been stolen in Ft St John in September 2011.
The 37-year-old man was arrested on possession of property obtained by a crime. Following his arrest, police went to a residence on Christopher Drive just north of Prince George in the city limits where the mini excavator, the skid steer tractor and two stolen flat deck trailers were recovered. The excavator and a trailer had been stolen from Ft St James in August 2011 and the Skid Steer tractor and trailer were stolen from Grande Prairie, Alberta in June of 2010.
On May the 2nd a criminal code search warrant executed on a property on Jutland Road in the city found a jet boat that had been stolen from Ft St John in July of 2011 and a snowmobile stolen in Prince George in 2004 was also recovered. In addition, a second snowmobile and a four wheel all-terrain vehicle was seized. Although both of these items are yet to be confirmed because the identification numbers had been removed.
The 31 year old man, who police believe had been involved in the thefts, was arrested for trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5000.00 dollars.
RCMP say the recovered goods are part of the property that was involved in a theft ring operating in Northern Alberta and BC.
Police say if you have purchased some equipment recently and feel uneasy about the deal you are asked to contact your nearest detachment of the RCMP.

well no names given but with the help of the internet, the city list of firemen and the streets listed its not a big reach… ya know, if your curious…
but of course that would be pure speculation
ps – for those wondering how long the city knew, I would say three weeks at a minimum by the arrest date.
I always wonder, both for this and any other crime that fits, why each individual stolen item isn’t a separate charge on its own….
I know that would increase paperwork/court time/etc., but it would be be nice for offenders caught with multiple items to be up on say 4 stolen item charges over $5,000, rather than one single charge.
1fastm3 – [I always wonder, both for this and any other crime that fits, why each individual stolen item isn’t a separate charge on its own]
each item is usually an individual charge…check the court dockets on any given day a see the multiple counts of charges against many individuals….the RCMP are obviously still investigating – [Police say if you have purchased some equipment recently and feel uneasy about the deal you are asked to contact your nearest detachment of the RCMP.]
I wonder what Ms. Green is going to say about Mcleans article about Prince George this year.
Maybe she will send them a letter saying that she doesn’t want to talk to them either.
What really makes me wonder is how many of our loyal firemen and women knew about this and didn’t say anything.
@cantaddafter5
Thanks for the clarification. Good to hear.

If he is facing charges, then obviously amnesty is not being offered. I like this site and all, but it is not stellar reporting to report on rumors
I think you have alot of crow to eat daisybee. You think a man with 60 years of reporting would base a story on rumors? You need to jump into a think tank before you post.
you call that “reporting”??? hahahahahaha!
I can’t believe that anyone would be surprised that the mayor would not provide comments to opinion 250. I can’t believe that I am the only one who realizes that it is not a legitimate publication and has about as much credibility as an Archie Comic.
Bcfed, you can’t handle the truth. Oh by the way why are you here then and commenting.
bcfed must be a relative of someone that 250 has outed or made to look like a fool at sometime.
Please bcfed change your handle. You’re insulting to the BCFED.
The bcfed name is just like the real thing -seemingly looks at the world through the wrong end of a telescope and no real idea how things work in the real world:)
One other little thing- picture with story is a little over the top, so far it is a couple of bad apples in a department of people who do good things in this city both on and off the job. Why tarnish the image of those who spend their own time selling motorcycle tickets or sit on top of a building to raise money.
250 News is the only news worth reading
I am here because you guys are amusing. And to be clear it is BCFED
I think the photo is just showing that either the parking stalls are to short for the truck or the truck is to long for the driver.
well i hope they get what they deserve but hope it doesn’t put their co workers in a bad light.
We have been advised that bcfed who registered earlier today on 250news, saying they were the bcfed is in fact not correct and the BC Federation of labour has advised us that the person going under the address of (sweetster68@hotmail.com ) has no authority to speak on behalf of the bcfed and are impersonating the BC federation of Labour.
We apologize for the suggestion that bcfed was in anyway connected to the real organization.
I’m sorry taxedout, no where in this article is the subject of amnesty mentioned.
The original story said something along the lines, of O250 being unable to confirm (regarding the amnesty).
The original story was a good solid piece of journism, but adding comments regarding amnesty they could not confirm could have easily been left out.
Perhaps if you have time to copy and paste other poster’s comments, you should find the time to read each and every post made by that poster.
Someone already suggested that perhaps the amnesty was being extended to persons in possession of stolen property, and not the actual thieves…A point that I didn’t see clearly explained in the original story.
If it is true that amnesty has been offered in order to get stolen good returned that investigators may not be aware of at this time, I would think and hope that it is only being offered to those who could prove that they had no idea they were in possession of stolen goods.

While we have not been able to confirm this, inside information suggests that a form of amnesty is being offered to firefighters within the department to return goods that allegedly may have been stolen.
amnesty, no throw them in the clink. dishonorable discharge. They knew what they were doing, and they were profiting from it. multiple stolen properties, meaning they were caught with only goods they could not sell. So what else have they stolen sold.
nope, once a thief, always a thief.
how to confirm if the residence is hooked up….. shut it off.

I call it a human factor. A robotic factor would be to continue with the same thought over and over again.
Humans get bored with that. Thus, normal human conversation segues from one thought to another. If it does not, then it will become boring after a while, and one after another people will leave the conversation and group to move on to another.
So, I gather you are not a professional sociologist. :-)
Guesswhat & Gus
I could understand if there were some link in the actual story to “water theft” or “assuming and identity” or whatever, so long as there is a link in the actual article to which posters are commenting on.
Guesswhat; The city is rife with thieves, crooks, and bold faced liars, some work in city hall, so what’s new. The venue for those issues is a city council meeting or your local news paper reporter if you feel the issue needs to be publicly aired. If you have an issue with bylaws and enforcement speak to Guy Gusdal or Fay in the City Bylaws department 250 561-7600
Have a wonderful day.
“If you have an issue with bylaws and enforcement speak to Guy Gusdal or Fay in the City Bylaws department”
Don’t waste your time. They are useless and only follow through with what “they think” is worthy.
So what kind of professional are you, Professional?
The connection is simple … and can come from multiple directions such as dishonest city employees and city employees accused of unethical activities right thorugh to criminal activity from minor to major incidents.
I am not quite sure what the bylaws enforcement department would have to do with any of that …. having a noisy party after 11pm, for example, in contravention of a noise bylaw is hardly a criminal activity.
And going to Council is out of the question with a complaint about a City employee purportedly involved in stealing water from a utility will get shut down very quickly for some very valid reasons.
BTW, you do not need to go through the switchboard number at City Hall … many staff, such as Guy, have their contact numbers listed on the City web page:
http://princegeorge.ca/Pages/Contact.aspx
I wouldn’t even know how to find a list of the cities firemen. And their home addresses; just a little too snoopy for me. If it gets released to the news, fine,- but mud slinging and speculation is a little much.
Let the wheels of ‘justice’ do their thing.
I’m sure , in time, when the investigation is complete, the truth will come out.
Rumours, aren’t worthy a Canadian penny.
If it was a union employee then that emploee would be terminated, but because it is management/administration nothing will be done.
BTW – Will that be the of the story?
I think some people need to be reminded that a couple bad apples does not make the rest of our honourable fire fighters criminals as well! Neither does it make the whole system corrupt. That’s like saying that, because you have a criminal in your family, you must be a criminal, too. Gimme a break! Such knee jerk reactions from some people. Life isn’t black and white!
I think you need to take a break. Not one post gives any indication that the whole fire department is corrupt or criminal. There maybe more corruption than the public is aware in this City. One could form an opinion if one pays attention to the way this City is being operated. Are all the employees corrupt and criminals? I hope not.
