Prince George, B.C.- Time to get ready to hit the links for charity. The Special Olympics Charity Golf Classic, hosted by MP Dick Harris, is set for June 21st at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.

This is the 20th anniversary of the fundraiser which has become the major event for the Special Olympics, Prince George local. The dollars raised through this event cover more than half of the operating budget for the local.

Over the 20 years, this event has raised more than $700 thousand dollars and every dollar raised  stays in Prince George for local programs, uniforms and travel.

There are more than 140 registered athletes and 70 registered volunteers who take part in the 13 programs offered by Special Olympics Prince George.   Golf is one of the newer programs for  Special Olympics athletes in Prince George, but it is a big hit.  Some of the athletes from the golf program were invited to be part of the 4 person teams that participated in the ‘Special Olympics Charity Golf Classic hosted by Dick Harris’. It was a success and will be done again this year.
