Four Year Old Boy In Hospital After Being Hit By A Vehicle In Vanderhoof

Vanderhoof- A four year old boy is in hospital in Prince George suffering from injuries to the face and head after he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 22 year old male driver in Vanderhoof just after 3pm. today.

 

The accident occurred in the school zone near Evelyn Dickson Elementary school at 4th St East and Riley Avenue in Vanderhoof

 

Vanderhoof RCMP and the North District Traffic Services are on the scene,  and they ask people to avoid the area as they reconstruct the accident.

 

The incident was witnessed by the boys nine year old brother who was also riding his bike at the time.

 

The 22year old male driver was driving westbound, when he says, the boy appeared from the south after riding down a steep grade.
 
Police say alcohol is not a factor in this incident. RCMP victim Services  are assisting both families who have been affected.

Ya that would be tough to witness. I hope the little man comes through alright.

I’m always nervous when I see small kids playing by a road side… they’re sometimes so mindless when they play. I like to back my truck into the driveway when I can just in case, because I always figure that’s the blind spot that might one day get me.

That’s something I was taught years ago, I back in to park everywhere. Good point Eagle.
Still don’t think the speed limits low enough on residential streets, because yeah, kids aren’t thinking of traffic, we gotta think for them.
