Burns Lake, B.C.- Although a search continues, a boater missing on Francois Lake since Friday, is presumed drowned.
The missing 35 year old, who family and friends have identified as Sid Neville, was on a boat on Francois Lake with his 21 year old nephew on Friday when the boat capsized. The two had been fishing when caught in an unexpected storm.
The 21 year old male, who was wearing a life jacket , was spotted in the water Friday evening, clinging to the boat.
He was rescued and taken to University Hospital of Northern B.C. where he has been treated for severe hypothermia.
Search and Rescue from Nechako Lakes, Burns Lake, Houston as well as the RCMP have been trying to locate Sid Neville. If his name sounds familiar, it is because he is one of the people injured in the Burns Lake sawmill fire of January 2012. Friends tell 250 News he got married just two weeks ago.
An aerial search of the lake is being conducted by the Provincial Emergency program and more than 50 volunteers have been walking along the shoreline or patrolling the area on ATV’s.
