Prince George, B.C.-   There was cause for celebration this afternoon as the sign for Kordyban Lodge was put in place.

The Lodge is a home away from home for those who are undergoing treatment at the Northern Cancer Centre in Prince George.

Since it officially opened in March of this year, the 36 bed capacity Lodge has had, on average, 28 guests each night.  Those guests have come from communities from Williams Lake to Fort Nelson, and west to Prince Rupert.

Built with donations from the community, the Lodge serves to make a patient’s treatment sessions as comfortable and supportive as possible.

There are still a few things to be done before anyone can say the Lodge is “complete”. There is landscaping, some fencing, signage and some plaques for the meditation garden . In all, it is expected the finishing touches will be complete by late August.

Congratulations to everybody involved. Thank you to the Kordyban family for their generous contribution.

I attended the cancer lodge in Kelowna in 2005, a very awesome facility. It’s nice to see folks won’t have to go so far from home for their treatment.

God bless everybody that made this become a reality!!!

We attended the Cancer facility in Kelowna twice not too long ago. The people there are absolutely wonderful as is the staff here and the whole facility.

This facility here is a jewel and deserves nothing but praise! May God bless everyone!
