Crash scene on Victoria this afternoon – photo-submitted
Prince George, B.C. – A motorcycle driver has been taken to University Hospital of Northern BC for treatment of undetermined injuries following a crash this afternoon.
The motorcycle and a truck were involved in the collision on Victoria Street between 17th and 20th Avenues around 1:00 this afternoon.
According to RCMP, their investigation suggests the truck driver was exiting a parking lot, and attempting to make a left hand turn on to Victoria to head northbound. A vehicle in the south bound curb lane on Victoria stopped to allow the truck to make the turn. A southbound motorcyclist in the outside lane did not see the truck entering on to Victoria and struck the truck.
The driver of the truck has been cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.

I hope the rider’s okay.
“A vehicle in the south bound curb lane on Victoria stopped to allow the truck to make the turn.”
Being courteous can sometimes lead to unsafe actions.
I find myself often telling people that’s its nice to be courteous but not taking the right of way when it is yours, nearly always creates a lot of confusion for everybody.
The courteous driver is an idiot! People need to start learning the rules of the road. Hope the rider is OK.
gus, give more and dragonmaster, you are absolutely right.people should really concentrate on driving and follow the rules.never mind the guy trying to get into the traffic flow he will eventually get in when there is a break in traffic.
The Cameron st bridge round about is a good example. People treating it as alternating traffic!!!
Why was the truck making a left out of the parking lot in the first place . It is a double solid yellow line on the road . But once again it does not surprise me it was a left hand turn collision . This makes up the vast majority of car/motorcycle collisions . Everyone has to pay attention please . No matter what you drive . I drive a car , motorcycle and big rig. I see all sorts of things everyday that just make one shake their head.
The car might not have stopped as a courtesy but because the truck had encroached on the curb lane as he inched out and the guy figured it would be easier to stop rather than change lanes.
Just wait till there is a bog box sporting goods a block down the road, lots more of those goat faced trucks causing havoc.
Yup, people are dumb sometimes — I was heading South on 97 and had just passed the casino. A woman with a walker was standing on the right side of the highway looking accross the highway. The traffic was moving at about 80 kliks and the woman in front of me hits the brakes hard to let the woman cross the road — I almost hit her and she did get a very long horn blast from me. Stupid ass! That’s the dumbest I have seen.
And people wonder why some drivers get mad and wanna rip the morons that don’t know how to drive….. sometimes I think it’s the stupid drivers that cause more danger on the roads than the “road rage”driver. Perhaps the cops should target the moron driver instead of the aggressive driver once in a while. The courteous driver should be issued a ticket here too and have to apologize to the bike rider!
Yes, more of the same, confused, distracted, or just plain dumb, these are some of the fellow motorists that share the road with those of us who enjoy life on two wheels. The left turn-er, a dreaded species one must always be on the look out for. The rider should always be looking ahead for situations like this, not being found at fault is poor comfort if you end up in a wreck. Of course in this case the driver turning left (over a solid double line!!!) is very much to blame.
On another note, I find I must join the legions in the fight against those who liken the emblem and description of a “RAM” to a goat. Is it intentional? or is it a sad lack of knowledge of terminology describing the fauna in our world?
metalman.
It may be intentional. After all, sheep are well ………. they are sheep ;-)
No money ? No job ? No credit ? No problem.
Git yo self down to Northland and ride a sheep today !
I use to have a goat, got him at birth 1993! The family loved him!! The ex wife really loved him, because when we went our separate ways, she got the goat and I got the boat!! Or is that boot…lol
Yes Metalman I agree with the goat statement. Usually those that make such comments are those stuck driving Ford pickups that thought “Dodge Ram” was spelled “GOAT”.
And there’s the Lonesome Dodo whining about what other people drive. Go figure!
Kinda like a person not being able to know the difference between a sparrow and a dodo.Go figure!
Unless you are once again baiting another person which would make you a master….. I’m sure you can get the rest.

Here is one for the record books. A woman stopped right in the middle of the highway lane on 16 west, to allow a car in, that was stopped at the end of the merge lane heading west at the intersection of 97 and highway 16. I almost rear ended her. Being courtious means being dangerous..this woman is a complete moron, and should not be on the road.
