Council Plans Marathon Meeting

Friday, June 28, 2013 @ 3:47 PM
Prince George, B.C. – There will be a special meeting of Prince George City Council on Monday July 8th, and the focus will be to wrap up Administration recommendations on the Core Review.
In a public notice issued this afternoon, the special meeting is slated to start at 8:30 in the morning of July 8th in the Council Chambers.

“The purpose of the special meeting is for Council to conduct regular business, as well as to consider Core Services Review recommendations from Administration” reads the public notice issued late this afternoon.

The notice goes on to say Council will continue with any unfinished business at 6 that night, including any public hearings that are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.

The previous practice to deal with Core Service review recommendations was to hold a Committee of the Whole meeting, and recommendations were then presented to Council for final approval. This meeting would seem to jump that step and takes the matter directly to Council, which begs the question “why the urgency?”.

The full agenda for the marathon meeting is to be released Wednesday afternoon, so the  Core Review recommendations from Administration are not yet known.

Calls to the City Manager   for clarification and details on the meeting, had not been returned at time of publication of this article.

As Artie Johnson would say.

Verrrrry Interestinnng

So, do we think it is a hidden “agenda”. For what purpose? I would want to finish that thing off as quickly as possible.

The longer it drags on the more confusing it gets and likely the more people get to thinking “did we get “anytink out of dis”

The sooner they deal with some of the more doable core review recommendations and turn off some of the unwise spending the better. Examine every item and then determine if it is just a wish item or a need/must have item. Then get with it.

That is the problem with this group gus, everyone looks for an ulterior motive for anything they do solely based in their actions since being sworn in.

It has almost reached the point when you read a sentence that begins “city council has decided” you think that was stupid before reading any further.

Good to put the core review out of it’s misery though.

I prefer “Do you believe in the here after?”

I di not believe in the hereafter. However, I am very much interested in the therafter. :-)

Maybe to discuss the giant crab being built on Victoria.

Although some people might want to hurry this Core Review along, we need to follow due process. The citizens of PG are entitled to have the responsible decisions made on the core review.
The underhanded way that the meeting has been planned, and the ridiculous ‘public announcement’ hidden in the depths of the city website, show us all the deviousness of this plan.
