Taxes Due Today

Friday, July 5, 2013 @ 3:57 AM
Prince George, B.C. – It’s Tax Day in Prince George.
If you haven’t already done so,   property taxes are due at Prince George City Hall. You can either pay them at City Hall, or at any financial institution, but if you are paying at a bank ensure the teller’s stamp is today’s date. If you miss the deadline, you will be facing a 5% penalty.
At City Hall, you can pay by cash, cheque, debit care or post dated cheque from 8:30- 5:00. After hours, you can use the drop slots on either side of the building.
If you had mailed in your payment, the payment has to arrive at City Hall by today. A post mark stamp won’t do.
If you are paying at a financial institution at a bank machine, keep your receipt because often when those payments make it to City Hall, they are dated up to 4 days AFTER the date you actually made the payment.
The City tax bill reflects a 3.5% increase made up of:
.65% more for general operations
1.85% more for Road rehabilitation, and
1.00% more for new general infrastructure.
Of course, there are all the other agencies which the City of Prince George includes on the tax bill, such as Regional District of Fraser Fort George, Regional Hospital District and School taxes.

I got tax pain again.. Don’t think will see doc about it this time

Ah yes, I can’t wait to hand over our cheque for $15,000+

bornandbred you must have a fair amount of property to get a bill of $15K must be at least $1M to $1.5M in assessed value. If you live in a house worth $1M I guess you can afford to pay $15K……sorry I’m not shedding any tears….

Many people who own businesses, or residential properties they rent to others, pay that much, or far more, in property taxes every year. Business property is assessed at a higher rate, generally, than what home owners pay, and there’s no Home Owner Grant to offset any part of the bill.

Thanks for the remind, made it by ten minutes
