Prince George, B.C. – Search crews are having a difficult time with the terrain as they continue the search for an elderly mushroom picker in northeastern B.C.
61-year-old Lyle Martin, from the Neskonlith Indian Band near Chase, was dropped off and was last seen heading into the bush at a location east of Fort Nelson last Monday. He was planning to join a mushroom picking camp at Kilometre 36 of the Eskai Road. He had made arrangements to be picked up at the spot he was dropped off later that day, but failed to return. Fellow pickers, police and Search and Rescue teams have scoured the area but without success. Martin’s backpack was found several hundred metres from where he was dropped off, but still no sign of the man.
RCMP say the terrain in the area is extremely rough and difficult to navigate on foot because of fallen trees, thick brush and swampy conditions. As well searchers have been overwhelmed by bugs. Volunteers on ATVs and a police dog have joined the ground search while a privately-owned helicopter has been employed for an aerial search.

Acording to Harper we have work to 67, so I’am not elderly yet , older yes but not elderly !
That’s the appropriate, politically-correct term: older adult. 61 years old is certainly not “elderly”.
I agree with the other commenters. 61 is not elderly, maybe 81?
‘Adult with lots of experience’? Too wordy?
