Prince George, B.C. – There was plenty of sunshine, lots of colour and a good-sized crowd on hand for the 16th annual Prince George Pride Parade on Saturday.
Organizers with the Prince George Pride Society had expected 500 participants from not just the city but Quesnel, Williams Lake, Dawson Creek and Smithers as well. And they were not disappointed by either the number of people taking part or the size of the crowd that lined the route. The parade kicked off at 11:30 a.m. and travelled along George Street to 3rd Avenue, up to Brunswick, over to 8th Avenue, down through the Civic Centre Plaza and along 7th back to City Hall.
This year marked the first time the RCMP had participated in the Prince George Pride Parade. Officers and staff members from the City detachment and North District Headquarters walked the route or drove in the four police vehicles involved. The RCMP specifically said that it wanted to celebrate the diversity in the city and surrounding communities.

Several groups and organizations were represented in this year’s parade, including Prince George Fire/Rescue, the B.C. Ambulance Service, CUPE members who work at City Hall, the SPCA, BCGEU, a number of local restaurants, members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender Community, university and college students and the business community.
Prince George City Council was also represented at this year’s event as Mayor Shari Green and Councillors Murry Krause and Albert Koehler walked near the tail end of the parade.

Councillor Skakun was also there, reliable as he is when it comes to supporting the people of the community. It was beyond incredible, in Prince George, to see such a show of community spirit from the RCMP! Most were smiling and having a great time. And kudos to the 3 firefighters driving the rescue truck. Maybe next year they will bring the ladder truck and take off their shirts!!
Its always about sexual innuendo with the gay community. Not something to be proud about endorsing IMO.
That is so wonderful! A proud moment for Prince George :)
Do you ever watch TV or listen to the radio eagleone? Everything is full of sexual innuendo. You just notice when its gay because it makes you uncomfortable perhaps?
Interceptor is right on eagleone ….. sexual innuendo is in the eyes of the beholder.

Eagleone, don’t be such a stick in the mud. If you don’t like the pride parade you are free to stay home next year.
I agree Eagle one; “It makes God uncomfortable too.”
Perhaps PG City Council should govern based on what they think God would like them to do? Does anyone know if he or she knows how to manage a budget or fill potholes?
So you folks are saying if the May Day parade includes highly charged sexual innuendo you would be happy with it.
You did not quite get the notion that sexual innuendos are in the eyes of the beholder, did you seamutt?
