Naming Rights Policy to Be Developed
Tuesday, July 9, 2013 @ 3:50 AM
Prince George, B.C.- Imagine the Civic Centre becoming the Canfor Centre, or the Four Seasons Pool becoming Splash Media Place.
Council has approved the development of a Naming Rights Policy for all City facilities and assets.
Although no one on Council or staff could recall the exact deal for CN’s right to have its name on the Multiplex 250News recalls the deal was $1.3 million over 15 years, and will soon be up for renewal.
There is no indication of how much money could be generated for the sale of such rights, or which facilities would be available for the sale of naming rights.
Council has also approved additional marketing plans to attract more events to the Civic Centre. There is no estimate of the costs involved for such a marketing plan.

Pimping out our city
“Although no one on Council or staff could recall the exact deal for CNâs right to have its name on the Multiplex…”
?
The city should be able to verify a) how much it has been getting per year b) for how many years c) and when the contract started and when it expires d) have any payments been missed? e) how many tens of thousands of dollars would it cost for the staff to have a look at the books?
If this information has been lost, we are in deep trouble.
With all those new management positions at the hall on an increasing basis do not tell me there is not an asset management position and if that person or the super highly compensated director of corporate services that has been employed by the taxpayer for about 30 years (they really hate to hear that) cannot find it then perhaps removing the giant chip on her shoulder would make it easier to direct an underling to do so, either digital or hard copy, I’m not fussy.
If a private corporation wants to pay money to slap its name on the Civic Centre which will help pay to operate it, go for it. We did the same for the Multiplex.
People will probably still find a way to be against the idea, though.
“Northland Center”
Go for it Brent!
If some people are against the idea they have the right to their different opinion and to express it! What a dull and stagnant society it would be if everybody sheepishly toed the line mandated by some overlords!

Are we still talking about naming rights to the Civic Centre or have you moved onto something else?
I think the new Police station should be the most attractive building to have the name of a corporation on it. Any corporation should be proud to be associated with that building.
How about Lululemon Station?
Subway Station?
There must be other names. ;-)
How did I ever forget Tim Horton’s Station … LOL
New Police stn. = “Starbucks Fuzz Box”
Definitely not Lululemon Station after all the problems they had with their yoga pants the new nickname would be the Crack Shack;)
Yes, they turned out to be lemons … ;-)
And the PAC could be named after the city
Call it UFC
Ultimate
Financial
Catastrophe

Yes, I have.
City Hall should be named **Hucksters Haven**
With all the less than stellar ideas that have come out of the Core Review, along with some pretty blatant mistakes, and how obvious it is that neither the Mayor, Council, or the Administration know what the hell is going on in this town, I suggest that a number of people should seriously consider resigning.
Resigning would be the very least they could do for the future of this City.
What a surprise, another thing Palopu is against.
