Bring On The Heat

Prince George, BC – Say goodbye rain and hello sunshine, as summer appears ready to take hold this week…
Today is forecast to be a sunny, but cool prelude to at least five blue blazers – with the high of 22 in the normal range for this time of year.
Tomorrow will warm the hearts of sunseekers and gardeners, alike, as the mercury climbs to 25. Environment Canada is forecasting it will inch a degree higher on Wednesday, another degree on Thursday, before jumping two degrees to a high of 29 on Friday.
And, wonder of wonders, the sunshine is supposed to hold on for the weekend – with Saturday’s high pegged at 28.
The high this past Saturday was just 17-degrees, but a far cry better than 1990’s record low of 3.6 degrees.

In Las Vegas right now. We broke a record today….over 114….very different from PG
Really oppressive humidity and heat in Ottawa right now. Tomorrow is supposed to feel like 44 (111F) based on humidex readings.
I went for a 5K run last night around the neighbourhood at around 9PM and it was still in the mid 30’s.
It’s funny to try and remember what felt hot to me when I was living back in PG. The temps described in the article above are just an average summer day now. Amazing how one can get acclimated to a new climate.
I think the thing one really notices out here is how fast stuff grows. It never cools down and there is so much moisture that crops just grow and grow and grow. You’d think the heat would be harmful, but everything is incredibly lush. Obviously the exception is when you don’t have any rain, which was the case last year.
