Prince George, B.C. – Nobody was hurt but there was significant damage to a City-owned vehicle in a collision Friday morning on University Way.
City of Prince George Communications Assistant Lori Tidsbury says the City’s lane marking crew was preparing to do some line painting. As is the normal practice an arrow board vehicle was parked in one lane, its 4-way flashers on and the arrow board lit up directing traffic into the other lane.
For some unknown reason which was being ascertained by police, a private vehicle plowed into the back of the arrow vehicle, causing heavy damage to it. Tidsbury says there was no one in the arrow vehicle at the time and no one from the City’s crew was injured. As well she says the crew was following all safety procedures and took all appropriate precautions.
Police have not specified whether the driver of the private vehicle was hurt, or if they may be facing disciplinary action.

Cell phones pose the biggest danger on our roads today.
“Communications Assistant”….? The manager of communications makes close to $100,000 a year to talk to the media 4 or 5 times a year. Wonder how much the “Assistant” is being paid.
Google “cell phone blindness”, you don’t have to be texting to be distracted and that includes hands free talking on the phone too!
Im glad the buffer truck did its job an none of the City crew were injured.
Heyyy middle finger… You got a point.. An “ASSISTANT” ????? What they need an assistant for???? What a waste of taxpayers money in a small city like ours.
Like the city managerial assistant Soltis the salary is probably close. Stolz was on the news discussing why we are not even close to bankruptcy in PG due to our low interest rates. Maybe they should figure out what the percentages are for debt servicing and employee payroll which is what brought Detroit to its current condition. We are going to use a million bucks we had for debt repayment to put meters downtown.
Detroit mayor and the new money manager say raising taxes is NOT the way to fix the 400 million shortfall in this years taxes, âThey shouldnât try to squeeze every last dollar out of city businesses and residentsâthat is really the key,â the director of government finance says. âWill residents flee, or will it remain stable?â
“What they need an assistant for????” If you have an assistant (even if you don’t need one) you get a raise.
Hartly 2 , you ask “What do they need an assistant for???’.
It’s called Empire building! I hire an assistant so that I am no longer on the bottom of the totem pole and the first to be laid off. But then my new assistant is worried about being on the bottom of the the totem pole and being the first to be laid off, so they go out and get an assistant. And so on and so on!
What we end up with is numerous levels of unnecessary government with a LOT of unnecessary staff, all being paid extremely well on the taxpayers dollar!
I’d say more but I’m busy interviewing assistants!!!
Obviously there were no crashes before cell phones were invented.
