Prince George, BC – Communities across the region have jumped at the chance to spruce up their business centres with a new grant program established by the Northern Development Initiative Trust…

Prince George, Quesnel, Burns Lake, and McBride are just four of the 12 communities that have sought, and will receive, $20-thousand dollars as part of the Business Façade Improvement program.  The money is meant to promote partnerships between municipal governments and local businesses to improve the look and feel of their commercial business areas.

NDIT Chair, Evan Saugstad, says, "Like all of our funding programs, the Business Façade Improvement program represents a true partnership between the Trust and the communities we serve, supporting more vibrant businesses that help drive economic development.

"McBride is already known for its attractive Main Street," says Village of McBride Mayor, Mike Frazier.  "This funding will help our local businesses thrive and welcome new visitors and entrepreneurs.

Rounding out the list of recipients: Prince Rupert, Port Clements, Fort St James, Smithers, Williams Lake, Fort St John, Wells, and Lytton.

$20 thousand dollars will go a long way in Wells when compared to Williams Lake. Interesting way of providing “equity” to communities.
