Quesnel, B.C.- Northern Health is keeping a close watch on the situation in downtown Quesnel, as the G.R. Baker Hospital is very close to the site of a major gas leak. ( see previous story)

 

Communications spokesperson Jonathon Dyck says Northern Health has been advised of the situation “The RCMP have told us we do not need to evacuate the hospital, but we are monitoring the situation.”

 

Earlier this afternoon, a major gas line was dug up in the Safeway parking lot.  

 

The leak has forced the evacuation of downtown Quesnel and closed highway 97 through Quesnel is closed to all traffic from 1km north of Quesnel, through to the top of Dragon Lake Hill.
