Prince George, B.C.- Highway 16 west, just west of the Cluculz Lake hill, has been reduced to single lane alternating traffic.
A crash this morning involving a reefer truck from Alaska and a B-Train chip truck from Grandview, has one lane blocked.
Emergency crews are on the scene, there is no word yet on possible injuries.
Hydro crews are also on the scene, repairing a hydro pole that was damaged when this crash took place. Hydro estimates power will be restored to 292 customers in that area by 4 this afternoon.

To many big Trucks on this 2 Line Highway and the building of a passing Lane at Mapes
makes it quite a Drive into the City this Week ,45 Minutes Delay each Way, lets see what will be tomorrow when I have to go again for an Appointment .
Should 4 lane this highway between PG and Vanderhoof. Always busy between these communities.
And here comes Gus, not knowing the details, spewing his anti truck driver nonsense
Thats quite the construction at Mapes alright. I made a trip out there on Monday night and could not believe how soft it was. I drug bottom on the van and was very thankful that I wasnt on the bike – it would be a handfull to slog through that mess.
There has been no changes on that highway to keep up or ahead of traffic flow. A couple double lanes in 40 years while traffic increase has been huge, is NOT planning for the future. Hope changes are made soon.
Don’t our MLA’s travel this road?
Government does not plan for the future. They address current issues in order to get re-elected.
The current issue is the one that gets the most noise, the squeaky wheel syndrome.
Unless there is significant media about it that might over-shadow another road project, there will not be any improvement to that highway.
Gotta give it a cute name like “Cariboo Connector” or something to get it built. Lets call it “Freightliner Freeway”.
The road didn’t cause the accident. It was driver error.
Unfortunately, this has become a daily occurrence in our area. Maybe I should unpack the suitcase and stay home. It’s getting damn scary on the highways.
Whenever I have the privilege of helping train new drivers, the first lesson is: every other driver is an idiot, expect them to do something stupid.
The second lesson is that the trainee driver is an idiot, and other drivers expect them to do something stupid.
The third lesson is don’t be an idiot. Think about your driving actions and consequences, and look down the road, not just in front of your bumper.
Once they get past the perceived insult and understand the concept, they do better.
It”s the Liberals fault. What a bunch of tards you people are. I drive this route daily and can’t count the number of stupid passes, particularly in winter that these professional drivers do. They f?ck up and crash and its the governments fault? These so called professional drivers excel at tailgating and being assholes. No governing party will change that.
Interesting accident. Right hand side of the chip truck trailer and right hand side of the reefer trailer.
This is a result of being tired. Chip truck had to take the oncoming lane to avoid the reefer that fell asleep. Reefer driver woke up and side swiped the chip truck. If you are tired please pull over and rest. Both drivers walked away, but it could have ended in fatalities…
….. tiptoes in ….. sees all is in good hands with dow7500, Loki ….. tiptoes out
