Prince George, B.C. – It appears the Prince George area could be in for some nasty weather late this afternoon and into this evening.
Environment Canada has now increased its Severe Thunderstorm Watch to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. There is a 60 % chance of showers or thunderstorms this evening and after midnight, and a risk of severe thunderstorms this evening.
Here is Environment Canada’s Severe Thunderstorm Warning:
Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm located 35km southeast of Mcleod Lake near Highway 97 that is capable of producing heavy downpours, large hail, and strong wind gusts. This storm is moving very slowly to the southeast.
Take cover, if threatening weather approaches.
Strong wind gusts and hail can damage property and cause injuries. Local downpours can cause flash floods.
Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away.
Environment Canada continues to monitor the situation closely. Please continue to monitor your local media or Weatheradio for further updates.

When was the last time we actually had a severe thunderstorm and a downpour that left standing water in places like the Winnipeg St. underpass?
Don’t want the hail and damaging winds but could use the rain :)
I just turned the rain on in my yard for the first time this year. I notice more and more people are not turning theirs on anymore. I wonder if that is true in other parts of the city. Interesting.
Took a drive around 10pm. Lightning to the east and south. The radar showed that. That was the same last night. A few sprinkles in the west bowl.
