Mayor Green winds up to  throw the opening pitch of the 2013 World Baseball Challenge – photo 250News

Prince George, B.C. – The 2013 World Baseball Challenge is officially underway in Prince George.

The teams marched into the stadium, and took their place around the diamond in preparation for the opening pitch.

It was Mayor Shari Green who was given the honour of throwing out the opening pitch, which was caught by Team Canada Catcher Cole Laviolette, who happens to be from Prince George.

While there are 4 teams visiting from other countries in this tournament, (Cuba, the USA, China and Japan), the umps are also international.

There is one umpire from Japan, two from the USA and one from Cuba. They will be calling the games as they see it throughout the course of the tournament.

Right now, Team Canada and Team USA  are  battling it out at Citizen Field.

Good to see the Mayor relax for a moment.

I dunno if you meant it that way, but that comment made me laugh and laugh, Palopu.

Thanks for that.

9-1 for the USA. Bottom of the 6

Uh oh. She will probably throw her shoulder out and not be seen for the next month or so. Strenuous activities do that to lazy politicians.

As long as she “threw like a girl”, I’m good.

Heronner should take a few laps around the bases, not saying she needs to lose weight but……..Here goes the pot calling the kettle black, I could stand to lose an lb. or two myself. And Harb. that really does look like the you go girl style of pitching.
metalman.

I was told it was a combination fastball/slider that sinks and curves at the end. She gets that by everyone. Are we talking about the pitch or what she said to the press?

Most of these blog comments are an embarassment to humanity. Sad.

Notwithstanding, on the whole, the whole worlds inhabitants are an embarrassment to humanity. The way they treat the environment and each other. So there.

Agreed
