Wet Weather Reduces Fire Risk

Saturday, August 17, 2013 @ 5:16 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Officials at the Prince George Fire Centre are expecting weather conditions to lower the fire threat in the region this weekend.

Fire Information Officer Dustin Eno says “with the rain and the cooler temperatures in the forecast we are expecting that to reduce fire activity.” The fire danger rating is currently low in the northern areas and moderate to high in the southern sections of the PG Fire Centre.

However Eno says strong winds could cause problems. “We have a forecast of high winds both on Sunday and Monday so any fire activity could be fanned and become much more active at that point.” He says Friday’s severe thunderstorm, although brief, was the main storm risk for the weekend, although there is a smaller risk for today as well.

Fire officials continue tabulating fires caused by lightning strikes on Friday. At last word there were 37 active fires in the fire centre, most of them quite small.

Periodic showers are forecast in the Central Interior this weekend.

” Officials at the Prince George Fire Centre are expecting weather conditions to lower the fire threat in the region this weekend.”

This is just bad reporting. Pamela Wallin expects us all to understand her plight. Justin Trudeau expects us all to bow down before him. Stephen Harper expects a decent haircut. I expect gus to use some big words that I won’t understand.:)
