Prince George Area Sees Break And Entry Increase

Monday, August 19, 2013 @ 3:45 PM
Prince George, B.C. – There doesn’t seem to be any let up in the number of break and enters in the Prince George area.

On August 11th, RCMP issued an advisory after noticing there was a spike in the number of B&Es. Between August 7th and 11th there had been 26 break and enters, Spruceland and Pinewood areas of the City  were the hardest hit although there were also a number of incidents in the BCR industrial site.
Since that advisory was issued, there have been a further 33 break and enters including incidents in Isle Pierre, Nukko Lake, Giscome and Shelley with the remainder happening within City limits and at all hours of the day.
Of particular interest is a Break & Enter to a Telus building in Prince George that was reported on August 16th. During this theft, two Telus employee hats and jackets were stolen. This is of concern to police, as thieves may begin to pose as Telus employees to gain access to businesses and homes. Legitimate Telus employees all carry company issued photo identification and will provide it when asked. If a person presents themselves at your door and is not able to produce Telus photo identification they should not be allowed onto the property.

"We want to warn the public to properly secure their homes prior to going out and ask the public to report suspicious activity at all hours of the day" says Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP. "In a sense, be a nosey neighbour. If it doesn’t look right, it probably isn’t."

I thought about this yesterday when someone called our home looking for someone who we had never heard of, maybe he was just checking to see if anyone was at home or not!!!

Hey Green and sidekicks……How is the new crime program working which you are wasting with our tax dollars?

Hmmm, hope the city is not interfering with the police as they have a track record of not being able to run our city hall very well….

Welcome to Prince George everybody!

Women being assaulted in our parks and trails, skyrocketing incidents of break, enter and thefts!

What’s next? Have this city put on lockdown?

We need to have these people put away for awhile. Two years less a day, gets them into the mansion on the hill. Over two years gets them a stint in the BC Pen. Habitual offenders should be getting three to five. This not only gets them some serious jail time, but gets them out of the PG area.

I sincerely doubt that we are doing all possible to solve these crime problems. I sense that the Government wants to keep as many people out of jail as possible to reduce the cost. This is not a solution, and in fact actually promotes crime.

Lets here from our elected representatives Provincial and Federal, on how they are dealing with crime. We need more than photo ops, and statistics. We need convictions and jail time.

We have to many people in Government, that have been there to long, and basically are just showing up to get a pay cheque. We need new blood with new ideas, and a good work ethic, and a desire to clean up on crime.

Lockdown??? heyy why not>??? Then people won’t get annoyed by others smoking…ahahhah

We need a war on drugs. Keep putting away dealers at all levels, really screw with their minds, put them to work, an honest days work, you get to eat, make it hurt, long sentences for even minor offenses, you have to take the allure out of the drug world. Build more facilities for the addicts who are stuck in the revolving door of justice as a result of their choices. Long mandatory sentences in treatment facilities, few perks. You have to work to earn the privilege of a meal. The justice system is too leniant on criminals, the jails are too soft.
metalman.

It’s people like in this story that we don’t need because they directly contribute to B&Es. They were caught red-handed by the police…

Maybe if Canada would introduce a “Castle Law” where as people could defend their homes without fear of being sued or locked up the criminals may take a closer look at what they are doing. As of right now the criminals have more rights than the law abiding.

In the US, Texas has laws allowing law abiding people to carry hand guns and defend themselves and their property… mysteriously they have one of the lowest crime rate. Oh yeah and the death penalty, that surely helps to.

Soft on crime Weatherly ! Need some Judges with some common sense sense !

Just for fun, heres a link that shows that States with the death penalty have a much higher murder rates than States without the death penalty ;)

One might make the argument that those states with the higher murder rates always had a high rate, and therefore brought in the death penalty to deal with it.

The stats on this issue do not have much meaning as there are to many variables to take into consideration.

a lot of criminologists on this board. Lock them up longer, mandatory sentencing, more jails, and the best, A WAR ON DRUGS! Forget decades of evidence that shows without a shadow of a doubt that all these policies have been abject failures! A war on drugs has been fought by the USA for decades and drug use and inmate populations have skyrocketed. I guess they’re not trying hard enough. Are the judges ‘too soft’ down there, giving 20 year olds 10 year sentences for marijuana violations? Weird that it isn’t working. You dinosaurs that grew up during the ‘good ol days’ of the 50s and 60s have to understand and recognize that as we’ve learned more about addiction, abuse, and rehabilitation and implemented policies reflecting these ideas, our crime rate is currently the lowest it’s been in over 30 years. But things are just getting worse and worse, aren’t they? Your frustration should be redirected at the amount of reporting that is now focussed on crime, a lot different than when you were young and there was one weekly paper and its stories were mainly concerned with who won the pie-eating contest at the fall fair. Do your research and don’t follow chicken little’s example.
