Recycling, Grants and OCP On Council Agenda
Monday, August 26, 2013 @ 4:00 AM

The Multi Materials BC is offering an incentive of $32 per household, plus some education “top offs” for the city to enter into a bi weekly curbside recycling program. But the head of Operations for the City says the proposed contract is heavily in favour of MMBC and could put the City at financial risk. Not only would the City be required to supply all of the containers, the City would have no say on personnel matters, and could face heavy fines if the recycling “streams” are contaminated with materials not accepted by the program.
Also on the agenda for this evening’s meeting, final reading of the OCP amendment that would change the zoning for all properties on McGuire Road. The change would open the way for smaller lot sizes in the rural neighbourhood.
Council will be asked to support an application to the NDI Trust for as much as $30 thousand dollars in grant funding for the Canada Games Plaza renovations. The City has already committed $500 thousand to the project and staff intend to apply for grants from Heritage Canada ( up to $500 thousand) and the Provincial Francophone Affairs Bilingual Signage Program for as much as $10,000 .

What a pile of crap. In abbotsford all the recycleables are just placed in a blue bag and the City picks it up on a seperate run. Only in PG.
cheers
