Prince George, BC – It’s a perfect day for running down ‘the hill’, as University Way has affectionately become known, but…

Participants in the 2nd annual Storm The Hill event must then turn around and run back up!

There were three race options for the Northern Sport Centre’s event: a 5K run, a 10K run, or a Sprint Duathlon that involves a 5K run, 20K bike ride, and second 5K run.

With the race starting at 9:30 this morning, racers circled the campus before heading down University Way…the first runners could be seen halfway down the hill at approximately 9:45.   Water and cheers from volunteers greeted them at the intersection with 15th Avenue before they began the torturous climb back up to the university campus.

Northern Sport Centre Communications Officer, Scott McWalter, says "(The event) is an exceptional way to bring the community and university together for a really fun day."

In addition to a post-race BBQ, the Sport Centre will be hosting an Open House at the facility for all city residents.  "Individuals, after signing a waiver form, can check out NSC and pick up their free Demo Week promotion cards for September 9th to 15th," says the Centre’s General Manager, Kevin Nowottnick.

Interesting in these pics no one is running on the back sloped side walks.
Back sloped sidewalks are awkward to walk or run on. Difficult for wheel chairs and baby buggies. Why does the city keep on building these? No back sloped sidewalks in rainy Vancouver.

Back sloped sidewalks on a fairly steep hill, amazing.

Why run on the sloped sidewalks when you can run on the sloped bike lane?!

Much less of a slope on the road, been there do that.
