Prince George, B.C. – This Saturday, Prince George will be one of 40 communities in Canada which will be hosting an AIDS Walk for Life.
“HIV still poses major obstacles to people living with the virus and to our communities and that the need to respond by providing support and creating awareness, is as urgent as ever,” says Dr Abu Hamour, a local physician who has been named the Prince George Community Walk Champion.
“All Walk proceeds stay in our community and enable us to offer programs and services to improve the lives of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS,” says Sandra Sasaki of Positive Living North, which is organizing the annual event.
This year, the local goal is $20 thousand dollars, but at this point, the organizers have not even hit the 10% mark of that target.
The Prince George walk is set for Saturday at Masich Place Stadium. Registration is set for 11:30 and the walk will get underway at noon. You can click here to find out how to make a donation.
