Final Report on Garbage Pick Up Expansion In Two Months

Monday, September 9, 2013 @ 6:40 PM
Prince George, B.C. – City Staff plan to hold public meetings and prepare a final a report to Council in November, dealing with garbage pick up.

Currently there are several areas in the City of Prince George which do not receive garbage pick up, but with the   new fees being charged at the Foothills Landfill the residents may want to be added to the regular garbage pick up service. The impacted residences are as follows:

·        Cranbrook Hill 131 homes
·        Landooz Road 46 homes
·        eastern half of Hofferkamp Road 18 homes
·        Old Summit Lake Road 153 homes
·        west end of Chief Lake Road 165 homes
·        Sintich Road 4 homes

Staff hope to  hold open houses in each of the areas, and to have the residents vote on what they would like to do. Staff say a simple majority decision of that vote would be sufficient to direct what should happen. If residents vote to be part of the garbage pick up service, they would be required to pay the applicable fees.

WOO HOO! I’m in the city and not on the list. The only advantage of garbage pick up I see is that my street would get snow plowed more than once every 3 or 4 weeks.

No doubt – in a rural area with a 500 or 1000 foot long driveway who is going to drag a container onto the road in a snowstorm?
