Costco Pumps Flowing

Prince George, B.C. – The gas pumps at Costco are flowing.
The initial price for a litre of regular is 129.9, that’s about 5 cents a litre cheaper than most other gas stations are offering.
How long the price will stay below the others in the market, or if the Costco price will force other gas stations in Prince George to lower their prices has yet to be seen.

Going to fuel up my big truck.
Hooray! Onto complaining about potholes ;)
Abbotsford Costco now at 122.9, hope ours will go down some more and bring the other outlets down. Must be frustrating for the independents, but its the business world.
Need a membership? $60 bucks is a lot of nickels.
Too bad they were not smart enough to bring in deisel
I’m fortunate enough that the $3.00 diff it will make in a tank of gas, at 5 cents/litre, is not enough that I really care, but I do care about the principle of being gouged by greedy petro companies. Lets hope the other gas companies are paying attention and that Costco keeps up the difference.
Oh, and doneright has a really good point. can they rectify this later?
Premium 10 cents cheaper.
“I do care about the principle of being gouged by greedy petro companies”
LOL …. Now we get to see why Costco opened up in PG. $1.299 here and Abbotsford at $1.229.
Time to put up some protest signs there that we are being gauged by Costco. ;-)
We can continue ye olde bitchin, NMG. We do not have to give all our attention to potholes again.
I have never been one to pay to walk into some business’s front door. However if the price differential of 5 cents remains it is one free tank of gas to me on an annual basis. Perhaps it is time to reconsider now that they have gas pumps.
I should have said one free tank of gas after cost of membership.
Superstore and Canadian Tire have matched their price according to Gas buddy. Now the difference will be the amount of rebate.
I use Can Tire for that reason alone, savings at the pump be it in their gift certs or money off 5 cents = 3 bucks x 52 weeks = 156 bucks = worth it on my book
I don’t know if anyone here filled up at Costco today like I did. I looked high and low for some sort of warning that the fuel contained “up to” 10% ethanol. I didn’t see anything like that. Just wondering if I missed it or Costco is selling good old fashioned gasoline.
If they are selling untainted gasoline the increase in fuel mileage alone would make it wort it to buy there.
I do not think that this will be the last price reduction as Costco tries to gain market share. Once all the other stations drop their prices to 129.9 I can see another nickel or so drop at Costco.
Even if a person does not get a membership at Costco they should give them a tip of the hat as they drive past as they are the moderating factor in area fuel prices as of today.
Gas Buddy still at 129.9 but on the fffa thread reported that Costco price is 127.9:)
Might want to wait till Monday before filling your tank.
Costco did this to promote the business and to make a ‘splash’ of sorts. Good on them. Whether the downward pressure remains is yet to be seen.
Costco membership is free if you are an Executive member and shop at Costco regularly. The amount of rebate more than covers the cost of membership. You have to eat don’t you? Might as well shop there!
Costco membership covered by money back. Judging the amount of people that shop at Costco they must be doing something right.
The pumps are marked with the 10% food added.
“Too bad they were not smart enough to bring in deisel” , now that was funny….
A hot dog and drink are $1.50 at all Costco stores both sides of the US/Canada border.
So the question becomes why are the gasoline prices at Costcos in BC different when, other than the GVRD, the taxes are identical?
Have a look around diesel pumps, messy and smell.
The pumps at Costco are a good thing! A sign once again that we are catching up with other bigger cities in BC. If you don’t like it, get your gas somewhere else.
I am pretty sure filling up at Costco doesn’t go to your executive membership rebate. Can someone correct me if im wrong. ??!?
All purchases that go to your Costco Amex if you choose to use it will count towards the cardt rebate. If you already shop at Costco regularly and aren’t an Executive member you should be. The cost of membership is cheap if you can talk your buddy with a business membership into adding you to their card. That addon not only gets them in but their spouse too. You won’t get the rebate but your in the door for less than a regular membership.
Wait a sec……nevermind yes you are right why pay to shop at a store! Dumb idea, line ups are too big already. Don’t shop there! ;)
canadan tire gas 129.9
“”””””””””The pumps are marked with the 10% food added.”””””””””””
So I can assume 10% ethanol in their fuel?
No thanks.
“line ups are too big already”
Leaving the store they certainly are. I simply do not understand why they have those checkers. When asked, they say it is because they want to make sure the clerks actually packed what you paid for and you are not missing an item …… how stupid do they think we are?
They can’t possibly check everything in a cart full of stuff anyway. They just check off and they have done their duty.
No other store I ever shopped in does that.
In Bellingham, with all those Canuck shoppers, the outgoing lines can be several minutes long.
Costco prices just checked on gasbuddy
Abbotsford $1.229
Kamloops $1.229
Courtney $1.249
Prince George $1.279
Langford $1.299
Langley $1.329
Port Coquitlam $1.359
Still getting “ripped off” by 5 cents ….
Well Gus they are looking for shoplifters and things that are missed by the checkout person. I have been told a few times that I was overcharged on an item and went back and got my money. That has changed some what since the new coupon system has come out. If you don’t like the lineup to get out shop there when it opens at 10am. No line up and the soup kitchens aren’t open yet so you can be outa there in 20 mins.
gus: “Still getting “ripped off” by 5 cents ….”
…if you subscribe to the belief that all Costcos must sell gas at the same price…
As far as rebates go, I still think it’s a better deal to fill up at Canadian Tire or Superstore.
You’re correct gold_rush. No rebate for fuel with the executive membership.
